  • came close to a serious injury tonight

well i did chest today -

i started off with incline barbell press . i worked my way up to 500 lbs . i felt good tonight , strong and fluid ..

once done with incline barbell i moved on to incline dumbell .. i set the incline up at a different angle . [ its close to being flat bench] as i start off i throw up 120 lb dumbells with my legs . well i am just a little spent so when i throw the left side up the dumbell came up odd so when i went to correct it on the way up it twisted and pulled my arm / shoulder as if i was getting ready to do a shoulder press but i am in a incline position . it built momentum by now so it was pulling passed my head behind my neck but instead of dropping the dumbells because i hate that shit i forced myself to stop it . i felt all kinds of shit move and strain in my shoulder .

i forced both dumbells back down onto my legs . but like the stubborn fuck that i am i reset and do 3 sets anyway then on to heavy flyes -

its fucking tender right now !!! i have it packed in ice at present . i do legs tomorrow . shoulders is not till thursday so am hoping its feeling better by then . i should have just let the dumbell go i could have tore all kinds of shit in the shoulder .. i tweaked it as it is sore but could have been worse . i dont need an injury

so thats my little gym fuck up today :)

Damn Scott, that sucks man. You need to be careful with that shit.

I had a similar experience with that, but instead i fucked up my rotator cuff tendon. I was doing shoulder press at at 90 degree angle and the weight went back behind my head and twisted it. Thankfully i dropped it before it did serious damage. I took off 3 months to let it deal.

Just to be on the safe side, ice it three times a day for 20 minute intervals

I hate dropping dumbells too. Everyone looks at you like you're a retard and I know no one likes it when the dumbells get all bent out of whack. Every now and then I still drop them after a really hard set though. I try to aim them so they land both ends at the same time but its just not worth hurting yourself. Hope it heals up quick.

its the rotor cuff you would have strained and possibly tore if it rotated any more. Rest it, ibuprofen, then when it feels ok do machines so as not to strain it and do some cable rotor cuff work. Don't do any behind neck barbell work for a while, if its sore that means its weak.

                PS 500lb incline holy crap!
