heart rate or not, if you are burning more cals then you are taking in you will loose weight.

no need to make in complicated. :P

Well, I registered! No turning back now, I guess lol.

We did a mini version of the race this past Saturday. I even jumped in the lake without having to! I just kept my eyes closed on the swim when I had to put my head down!! I woulda freaked if I saw something below! It was weird- you didn't have the wall 25 yds away to give you comfort, so the first 50 yds were a bit panicky. I was winded. Once I calmed down, it was alright. I wore my triathlon suit too. Then we biked for 15 miles. I wanted to run like 2 miles, but they were having a 4th of July parade... :(

I'll tell ya- I was freaking BEAT afterwards. But, I'm glad we did it- I know what to expect now. So, went & got some great running shoes, new padded bike seat (my ass hurt!) anti fog spray for my goggles, running socks, biking gloves and electrolyte gel/beans.

this is exactly why heart monitor + am / pm 45 minute low impact will melt fat - if i start jogging and running and getting my rates up too much - forget it - don't see half the results.

Good luck dude, you will do fine if you just push yourself like you probably do on a daily basis.

Well, I'm alive. I did not drown! Lol. I did it! My official time was 2hrs, 38 minutes...my goal was to finish in 2 hrs 30 min, so pretty good. Average race time for all 600 competitors was 2 hrs 4 minutes. One thing is for sure, if I am going to do this again (which I am), I need a road bike. No two ways about it. I was working twice as hard, and going twice as slow as the people who were passing me on road bikes. I put road tires on the mountain bike I have hoping it would make the bike equivalent for the most part, but not even close. I probably could've shaved about 15 minutes off my time on a road bike. Mountain bikes just don't have the gears road bikes do. The worst part about it, was definitely the bike- especially when I had to try & run 4 miles...felt like I had concrete in my shoes!

All in all, I'm pretty impressed with myself! Now it's time to get serious & train for real instead of half ass. I may have found a new thing to compete in! Someday after the net kid & mini tummy tuck, I'll get back on stage, but til then- this should suffice. :) I actually just ordered a book on amazon.com on how to get lean while endurance training. I need to drop like at least 10-15 lbs to just be a better competitor. I didn't lose any weight as I was training for this, and know that's not how it's supposed to be. Less totaly body exertion needed if you're carrying less weight = better race time.
