why? actually if you read my above post machines put more stress on your muscle than free weights because you are comparing variable resistance (machines) to straight line resistance (free weights).Originally posted by Racer814

actuall that is a good reason. people's "will" has a lot to do with results. so if you have a half assed workout with a good machine but have a great workout on free weights then yes free weights would be the way to go because you are more motivated on them.Originally posted by jeepman80
Maybe because If I get in the Gym that will motivate me.

also, with bowflex, you cant add any variety to your workout. your muscles adapt to exercises very quickly, making them much less effective. with the puss-flex, youll be doing the same exercises week after week and wont see major gains. i would only recommend a machine like that to an old person who is just looking to stay in shape

I agree I worked out on the Crossbow by weider and it's not good for building mass, and besides I can press more than it's got.

If you needed any justification that these machines are just crap, check out the link below. They are actually recalling about 10 years worth of Bowflex's because the machines wear down with time and heavy weights. Clearly that ain't going to help you gain muscle.

Dont you agree that for us who dont live in big cities and dont have alot of room the bowflex is a great alternative, given that if you dont use it as a coat rack and diet proprely you will get something out of it maybe not Mr. Coleman but there has to be some benefits.

I have a full gym in my basement including an eliptical, i've got freeweights and a machine. The bowflex is crap i bought a whole weider workout center for about 500 bucks from Sears. Dont waste your money on the crap you see on those late night infomercials. I find it's easier for me to workout at home so i made my basement my gym. Try it just dont go with the bowflex, or any of those other pieces of garbage

Absolutely right..........go to the gym. I purchased one of the home gyms something similar to what chuck norris adveritises and its a load of crap. NO motivation at all...realy couldnt be bothered.
The saying is ' Wanna get big you gotta pump big ' and there was no way I could add more weight to it.
