and actually Stonecold it does explain it. The older you get the more self confidence you develop and the less youare dictated to by social conventions and expectations. After living through my 30's and 40's I would never want to go back unless they could promise me that I'd know about life what I know now.

Hi wife of:) I have not posted on this thread as I have been on both sides of this thing in the past. . .
I have went out with women that did not like the whole aas thing and I am currently engaged to be married to a woman that loves me to bits and is not in any way opposed to what I would like to do with my body as long as I do it in a safe and sane manner. I think that your man is awsome right off and you should be glad he is mature and honest enough to be having this discussion with us. Most guys just go behind the womans back and then tell her it is just pro-hormones etc.
Regarding the legal issues; yes, in the USA steroids are illegal. .but alcohol was illegal back in the day as well. . .and it is now the most used drug on the planet. . .the government will always make things legal if enough money is to be made from it so I don't think that is really the issue(?) If you are from a background that frowns on stuff like aas or you have not really done any reading up on it (sounds like you are in the process!) then I urge you to do so. I remember having heated debates with very intelligent people back in my university days about whether athletes take aas and other performance drugs and having people look down on my and not talk to me afterwards. . .they get even more upset when you pull out research on the subject and prove them wrong; please don't be like those people and keep an open mind. . .
In closing I will say this: even doctors take gear. .I have a VERY close friend that is a Dr. and he has me design his cycles and get his gear for him because it is also illegal in canada for a Dr. to get gear for himself even though he knows it is not bad for himself! He does all my blood work and ECG tests each year. . I am always fit as a fiddle and he loves the great gains he gets from the cycles I make for him. .he is not a kid either. .47 years old.
You sound like a great woman. . .let your man do a short 8 week "sane" cycle of test and dbol and monitor his reactions yourself. . .if you do not like it and he turns into an asshole (I doubt he will:) ) then you can agree at the start with him that he will only do the one if he does not get the results that are expected etc. . .
Keep safe
CG
p.s. I hope you stay on the board! I am getting my fiance to sign up as she really wants to get in shape and learn more. . .this is a great place to start if you are on the gas or not. . .

Hi,
I'm the wife of DiamondCutCow. For those of you who think I don't let him take steroids because I'm his mommy NO. That's not why. I'm willing to learn more about it so please just reply back if you know what you are talking about and you are being sincere. I don't want replies saying your sex life will be good etc. I was once on a board, and the answer I got I didn't like. Maybe it was the wrong board to go to. I got answer like shut up and enjoy the great sex until he gets caught or something bad happens, It sounds like the wife found some things in his draws and is trying to find info to get him in trouble, why don't you let him do what he wants give him his privacy etc. They replied back with negative answer and that's why I didn't want to go to another board to learn about it, but after reading all you replies i've changed my mind.

So Mrs. Diamondcutcows, ask some questions. We will try to answer them honestly and directly. You will find a lot of educated people on this board who have done years of research and learning about AS.
The legal ramifications are something you and your husband must think about and decide for yourselves if the risk is acceptable. There is a very good and comprehensive book on the subject called "legal muscle" that I highly recommend. It is written by a lawyer (Rick Collins) who specializes in steroid cases.
My own opinion? I think generally the penalties for a first time offence of possesion of a personal supply are light and if a few common sense precautions are adhered to, the chances of my getting busted are pretty slim. Hell, I know people (some on this board) that have been using AS for 20 years without a problem. I was trying to be extreme in my earlier post to illustrate my point (that no one has the right to expose their families to risk without their knowledge).
As for the health aspects, there are some risks. These risks can be greatly attenuated by knowing what to take, when to take it and how much to take. Like most drug side effects, they are dosage dependent. Taken in sane dosages for short amounts of time with the proper attention to diet, training, and post cycle ancillaries, the risks are quite low.
Think about it this way: any drug from apirin to zoloft can be abused and if abused, can cause great damage both physically and mentally. On the other hand, these same drugs can be used safely with minimum risk and great benifit. Apirin and tylenol are both many times more toxic than most steroids. Take a hundred dbol tabs and you will get sick (but won't die); take a hundred aspirin or tylenol and you will indeed die. In fact, thousands more die from apirin and tylenol related poisening in this country alone then die from steroids worldwide. Moreover, the few steroid deaths are invariably the result of severe abuse, taking insane dosages for long periods of time. Do you object to your husband taking apirin for a headache because you fear for his health?
The key here is USE versus ABUSE. Steroid ABUSE can hurt you. Steroid USE is actually pretty safe. Most people here get blood panels done at regular intervals to be sure that nothing is getting out of hand. We take our health very seriously.
Anyway, I am glad to see you are willing to learn. I wish my own wife was as open-minded, LOL. Like I said, ask some questions.....

You can do it without telling her (Not Recommended)
You can get a new wife (that one is up to you) :)
Try to get her to read this board, education is the key

Actually spidey, I was eading some studies regarding the removal of ephedrine from the market due to ill effects and it ranked last in the number of ER visits ofr abuse. THe number one reason for ER visits was aspirin overdose. So let the FDA take those number and insert them posteriorly!

Hi,
If my husband takes Steriods will the doctor be able to know that he is taking it? Should he trust any doctor and tell them he does? He has a bad temper would this make his temper get worse? I've heard that it does, but then again it's from people that don't take Steroids. Also he has Kidney Disease would that affect anything?
Thanks for the help

Those are important questions. I'll do my best here but you MD's out there might want to answer on the question of kidney disease.Originally posted by DiamondCutCows

1) The doctor: Theoretically you can tell your doctor anything. However, there is a catch. It gets put in your permanent medical record and your medical insurence can refuse to cover any expenses that might be associated with illegal drug use. Also, some companies and institutions require copies of your medical records as a prerequisit to employment. Illegal drug use is automatic grounds for denying employment.
There is a couple of ways to get around this: You can tell the doctor you are taking prohormones and or prosteroids. They are legal and so you can't be penalized for using them or having them in your medical records. The regular checkups and bloodwork you require can be explained with prohormone use as well since they metabolize into steroids and share many side effects. The other thing to do is what I did with my doctor. I told him I was thinking of doing something that might adversly affect my health but I would only talk to him about it off the record. After he promised to not put it in my medical records, I leveled with him and he agreed to keep me monitered to make sure I didn't cause myself any long-term harm.
2) "roid rage": In my opinion, it is mostly a myth. Steroids can affect your state of mind (some more than others) but it is easily controlled if you have an ounce of will-power. I think "roid rage" is used as an excuse for immature men to be ass-holes. Now, he may find that he gets irritated a little more easily or he may not. Test actually is a mood lifter for most men and has been used to treat depression. I have used some androgens with a reputation for causing aggression and I felt nothing whatsoever. Others have used the same steroid and felt irritable. Everyone is different in that regard.
3) I think I will let a MD address the kidney disease issue. I would think that is important and would need to be monitered closely (monthly bloodwork).

You would actually need to evaluate the individual drug through a PDR. The PDR lists how each drug is cleared. Some are cleared through the kidneys and in that case a lower dose is recommeded since the blood titres dont drop as readily. Also water retention would place an additional load on the kidneys. SOme are cleared and detoxed in the liver and dont effect the kidneys except inasmuch as the water retention and clearance is an issue. I would try to steer clear of AAS that are know for high H2O retention properties.
As far as the MD goes, you theoretically should be able to tell him/her anything. Unfortunately many ae misinformed via the media and their medical common sense is overided by folklore and fear. I brought the insert from Serostim , a GH, to my cardiologist (high BP ) and he knew nothing at all about it. My gp told me to let him know how it works. So you see, AS use is not something that is covered in medical school except to the extent that the use is prevalenet and illegal.. A good doc should simply treat the patient. Do the labs. Comment on the results. Most of all...dont judge.Last edited by muscledoc; 12-10-03, 04:26 PM.

no sensitive nerve, i think there was a debate b/c of your assertion that women are unwilling or unable to learn why a man would want to do steroids.Originally posted by muscledoc
