the only true way that they'll be "allowed" is when narrow minded people understand that it's really none of their business who one wants to marry. your god is not mine and do not impose your faith on me. this is why we live in the USA.

i will also say that even nowadays, inter-racial relationships/marriages are STILL taboo in certain parts of the country.

also - remember that as the conservative right wing preaches the values of a stable nuclear family and the importance of having a solid family unit, straight people are getting divorced at rates higher than ever, and gay people are only trying to establish and form solid families.

the issue of marriage isn't JUST that they want to be married. there are estate issues and other legal protections that are offered to married people that gay couples cannot have. many people propose civil unions - but let me say again - SEPERATE DOES NOT MEAN EQUAL - no matter WHAT people try to say.

love, devotion, and understanding. i am not religious - the "moral values" that you don't believe these families ascribe to - that which you're trying to trick me into saying they don't mesh with - don't apply to what i see as a cohesive family unit.

the matter of whether these marriages will end in as high of a divorce rate is beside the fact. in fact, many straight people are now choose to live (as you, someone who ascribes to "religious moral values" would see it) in "sin" because they are choosing to have children out of wedlock and living together out of wedlock.

Yes I do live in "sin" and the fact of the matter is that I can say.."in time, gay marriage will be accepted like inter-racial marriages" because sooner or later it will! Whether I stay narrow minded on the subject or not, it will happen one day! Probably not in my life time, but one day!

I disagree Bad14u. I say in like 10 years people will look back and wonder WTF they were thinking by discriminating against these people for wanting to express their love for each other. The times, they are a changin', just as they did in the 60's with women and blacks. Homosexuals WILL have the same rights as other couples and there is enough of them to keep this issue in the forefront until change happens. It's not going to just go away because Bush got back in.

I'm glad you feel he's done well for the country, i disagree of course though. i'm not in politics because i don't have the money for it. seriously, who can get into politics nowadays without serious financial backing? i'd love to see what would happen if we took some blue-collar worker, someone who goes to bed sore and tired from working every single night and put them in office. i don't think they'd last long however, they'd probably punch someone the fuck out before getting through one single legislative session.
