Just wait until someone starts text messaging you. That is the most annoying thing. The text takes longer than a phone call and what the hell is so damn important, that you can't wait until you make the call.

I have 300 minutes a month. The only time I ever went over that is when my wife went out of town for about 2 weeks. That's the first time in 4 years that I ever used that much.

I travelled the entirety of this summer, my only access to the rest of the world was through my cell phone, and i still used it less than 100 minutes a month. i don't give out the # either, unless i have to. i like having the convenience of not having to look for a phone, but i don't want others to have the convenience of getting ahold of me anytime they want. not that i even have it on me often. it sometimes infuriates my co-workers, but if i don't have it on me, i don't want to be contacted anyways.

stonecold, what in the world line of work are you in that you can confiscate cell phones and keep them... prison guard? court bailiff? (sp?)

If you are a very infrequent user, try to go prepaid. It will work out much cheaper. I had prepaid for a while and it cost me $3.33/mo - the number of minutes was miniscule but I only had it for emergencies.

I had my business line ported to my cell because the cell ended up being cheaper than the biz line; I roll through around 2000 minutes a month now, good ol' Cingular has me stacked up with over 9000 minutes, so won't be going over anytime soon. Nextel and Sprint suck here in KC, and the rollover minutes are nice with Cingular.

There are some hold outs, no cell phone here either. And yes, friends and family find it annoying. What I find annoying is when I had one people would call about the most un-important stuff and interupt me , and then obviously expecting me to chat.

              NOT

Cell phones are great as long as you use them properly. My job requires that I am "on call" for any emergencies that may pop up. I don't take mine into the gym....if it is an emergency, they know the # to the gym and will have me paged there. At work I refuse to help people at the front office who come in talking on their cell and try having a conversation with me at the same time. They get pissed when I don't walk up and help them right away. When they get off the phone I tell them that I will not repeat myself over and over again just because they can't carry on two conversations at the same time.

I feel naked without my phone too.. 3 things i always have in my pants... Cell phone, Car keys, and my wallet. When i forget my phone at home once in a while i get annoyed

I used to have a job that required it and occasionally now at this job it helps me keep in direct contact with customers... definately saved me a couple of sales and made me some cash..

Its also a must have when ur single and meeting girls in clubs and bars... I mean where are you gonna write her number down? Walk around with a pen and paper?

Plus if a really hot girl you meet wants to call you would you wanna miss that call... :D

Text messaging is a great way to kill time in a boring lecture.

Or standing in line at the post office, bank, supermarket, etc. Text messaging is fun though. It's not like you expect an answer right away like you do a phone call. It's kinda like a PM of sorts.

We have 5,000 minutes and we use is mainly for work. Calls within our family are free so having a phone for my daughter is fantastic so we can always reach one another. Stromba travels at times and if I'm at work filling in for him and need his help or advice he's just a convenient call away.

As for the phone ringing at bothersome times...you can shut the thing off or just look at the caller ID and choose not to answer it. You can also put it on vibrate mode...I like that one a lot. ;)

I do have a house phone but I never use that number, my daughter has it for her friends to chat with. I even cancelled call waiting since I never use the home phone anymore.

I rely on my phone a lot. If I don't have my datebook with me, I'll send myself a text message to remind me about something later. I don't even wear a watch anymore because the phone has the time displayed on it.

I can also access AIM on my phone which came in very handy when I was stuck in the hospital for a week and had no other means of communications with the outside world.

And, my phone also has a pretty pink cover with little hearts all over it and the key pad lights up all sparkly with pretty colors, it's such a girly girl phone. And when I turn it on, the welcome message is "Puddles." :)

Stromba's phone is a camera phone. I took a pic of my big toe once and set it as his background. Stromba is not a foot person. LOL
