That's nothing! My sister has had her house on the market for over a year now!! She has potential buyers and then something comes up. She has been trying to move closer to home for over a year now so that she could be close to my mom (she has cancer). doesn't look like that will happen since the doctor told us that she probably only has a few days left. Selling a house is no joke!

But of course. And I'm ready to deal over $3k...Originally posted by THE BOUNCERYa, I agree. $3500 is nothing when it comes to a house. You have to be able to make deals or you will never sell your house.
I was ready to deal had she not asked for the $3000 in closing AND of course I pay 3% to her realtor. After all was said and done she had actually come in $11k less than I was asking.

Now you all are making me think of giving in....

NO WAY!! They're making too many demands. I can see the 3% to their realtor--maybe. I think with the current market situation, depending on where you are, you should be able to do better. I know here (MN) about 2.5% would be more realistic. If they don't have the money for closing costs, you could suggest what we did when we sold our house. We suggested adding the closing costs to the sales price of the house so that they could basically finance the closing costs and then we cut them a check at closing for the amount of the closing costs. That way we didn't have to lower our price at all and they got the money they needed to pay the closing costs.Originally posted by redsquirrelNow you all are making me think of giving in....

That's exactly what I did counter with....then they said the buyer may not qualify for that loan amount w/ the lender.Originally posted by BBAddictNO WAY!! They're making too many demands. I'm glad you see what I'm saying, though. Had she not asked for the $3k in closing, we'd have a deal...that's what pisses me off so bad...That I'll probably lose this contract over a measley $3k. And the worst part about it is, I know of way too many government programs that grant you money fro closing.

Holyshit...sonis just ripped me a new one, and I'm gonna blow a gasket. Here's what happened. The people who looked at it on Sunday 2 times, just called. She threw out a number, AND the fact that she doesn't have a house to sell.
This obviously benefits us for a few reasons: 1- we don't have to pay and put our stuff in storage. 2- we dont' have to worry about where the fuck we're going to live AND pay small rent for a couple months....AND worry about our 2 dogs. 3- we don't have to move twice!!!
So, we had a set number that we wanted to walk away with. AND, since we could stay in our house till the new on is finished, that has some value. So, she threw out a number, and I countered back w/ one $4k higher....which is $1k less than what we decided we should walk away with. I told her we needed that figure to qualify for the other house.
I don't understand why he got so pissed....because now I'm fucking pissed

maybe he is pissed because you did all this without talking to him about it first? just a thought.Originally posted by redsquirrelHolyshit...sonis just ripped me a new one, and I'm gonna blow a gasket. Guess I'm in the minority. We've built 3 and survived. Probably won't do it again but......Originally posted by PuddlesWhen we built ours we had a ton of problems that needed our attention on an almost daily basis. We had a good time with it for the most part though.
Did you know 50% of couples who build a new home break-up within a year?
