i agree. no argument there. the #1 problem in all this is the media. if they didnt cover it, we wouldnt be talking about it. american media is the scum of the earth.

No, It's just sexist, it's not racist. I have known plenty of nappy headed red neck hoe's. Going by the assumption of what he meant, would also imply that Tennessee is all a bunch of clean non-blacks. So where do we draw the line of putting words in peoples mouth's? Sure maybe he meant it racially, but the fact is everyone jumped to racism and that was the wrong thing to do on the accusers part.

he was talking about the black girls on the team dude. anytime i have ever heard the term "nappy headed" used, it was about black people. maybe its different here in the North East then the rest of the country?

No - nappy headed is ALWAYS geared toward a black person. Everyone knows that - it's just easy to say "who said I was implying black?"

I've called plenty of people nappy haired/headed before and I can honestly say not one of them was black. I'm from the NE and I've referred to people w/knotted up, dirty lookin, looking like you just got out of bed hair as nappy most of my life.

It's just like anything else you say, it's the tone, the intention and the audience it's aimed at.

This whole thing is rediculous plain and simple.

People don't know how to deal with controversy. If someone accuses you of being racist the immediate reaction is to vigorously deny it and try to prove that it's not true. If Al Sharpton wants to stick his nose where it doesn't belong and fuck everything up by accusing Imus of being racist, who gives a shit. The guy's a goddamn deuchbag. It's not true so there's nothing to prove. Imus practically tripped over himself trying to apologize for what he said and "make everything right". Dude, you said what you said, sorry people took offense to it, but don't give people like Sharpton and Jesse Jackson any more fuel for their racial fire.

I think Imus shot himself in the foot here by making it look like he did something wrong. He should have just said something like, "Sure, it was racist, but it was meant to be funny." Context or no, a racist comment is a racist comment. Doesn't matter what, if any, context it comes from. If it's wrong in one context it's wrong in another or even without any context at all. Tell me that Al and Jesse have never said anything racist. They're just better at making it sound like it's coming from a "victim" of discrimination.

You know what, you're right. It is used to refer to black people. So what!? How many times do black comedians make racial comments directed toward white people? Now, how many white comedians do you see making those kinds of comments about black people? Even if there was a context to it, the guy would get hung out to dry as a racist. White comedians and white rappers would never get away with racial comments.

Rosa Parks was the first one to actually act like a free woman. And look how she affected our world. If your peers don't recognize your rights, fuck em. Who cares if they recognize them or not!? Act like you're free and you're free. Act like you're oppressed and you're oppressed. Christ, slavery and apartheid have been done for over a hundred and fifty years. People with black skin ARE fucking equal in this society. THEY SHOULD START ACTING LIKE IT!!!!

I think my point is getting confused by everyone tying to take a point of view. I know he was saying something racist. I'm just so tired of people looking for the slightest racial connotation in everything just to give them a reason to be outraged. Why don't they focus on fixing problems that do exist, instead of trying to create new ones and always crying about being a victim (as babyblues also stated). If Imus would have said that he meant it in the literal sense and that Rutgers just looked like a rough bunch it would be done with. He would just apologize for the vulgar attack, but the racism issue would be done. Just like when Billy Packer said a couple weeks "You always fag out on me". He stuck to his statement and said he meant it in the literal sense and will use the word again. He would not apologize. It was quickly forgotten about.

if anything, these girls should be looked at as role models for the black community. attack rappers, Sharpton, Jackson, the media, and all the rest of the BS, but not collage kids.

I wonder what will happen now with the music rap BS.
nothing. sharpton and jackson have nothing to say about it. if they would stand up against rap just like they do againt krammer and Imus, maybe something would happen.
