The first number is your download speed the second one is your upload speed.
An old dial up modem was 56kbps (56,000 bits of information per second). Your download speed is over 16,000,000 bits per second (nearly 300x faster)! Do you have FiOS by chance?

Competition is great. No doubt about it. It forces companies to raise their standards and lower their prices. Pricing is the best any provider can do to compete w/FiOS. As far as technology goes they can't be touched. Gigabit Passive Optical Network standard carried straight to your house...that's good shit! Now it comes down to customer service, product quality and pricing.

Verizon went to my moms house in south jersey and wired her house for free. they spent like 3 days digging in the yard and wiring shit up in the basement. they did it for the whole town. anyway, her internet is fast as hell. but the only time you can tell is when you are downloading big files etc. in terms of internet browsing and stuff like that, you cant tell the difference between 6000 kb/s or 100000000 kb/s. both load pages faster then you can blink. in other words, for her, it was a waste because she only goes to sites like yahoo and check her email. lolOriginally posted by blmCompetition is great.
