Went thru the drills years ago with a couple of dipshit wannabe cops still in school. The two of them were convinced after 1 day of classroom training that they, or anyone for that matter could close the 7 yards and strike with an edged weapon before I could make swiss cheese out of them. I selected two of my personal weapons for the test. A . springfield armory .45 gov't model with standard high rise belt holster and a .45 long colt six shooter revolver with quick draw drop holster.(the standard cowboy holster) All clips and rounds were of course removed and verified for the drills. My formal training in firearms is nothing more than i grew up with and around them since childhood, that includes hunting as well as target shooting for the past 46-47 years.
After numerous attempts by both cadets they finally saw the light that despite what their training indicated, at least in this "hillbilly's" case, a full 8 round clip, or very close to it as well as not less than 4 rounds from the single action revolver were placed into their advancing bodies. In most of the cases they had covered less than 1/2 of the 7 yards before being perforated repeatedly. In some of the scenarios i had my back to them. The only difference in the outcome was a few less rounds were expended.
