That's why I asked. I viewed a single mom as a single parent. But then I heard it used other ways.

what other ways? its always used 1 way. a single mom living with her kids with no father living in the house. pretty sure that is everyone's definition.

I feel like I'm talking to Rado. :D

Single parent = No dad involved or very little.

Single parents = One has majority custody but they share time as much as possible.

you asked about the term "single mom" not "single parent or parents.

a single mom is what i described above. father involved or not, if he doesn't live in the house where the kids mainly live its a single mom.

same goes for a single dad.

yea, my mom was still a single mom even though i saw my dad every other weekend.

FB is a single mom even though her kids see there dad here and there.

Got it now. I was correlating the involvement of the dad to the term when it had nothing to do with it.

You would probably be surprised (maybe not) how often I hear a term or figure of speech and start to ponder it's meaning and origin.

Not surprised - I can see that with you. Hence ribbing the philosophy in good humor of course :)

I think it really started when I met my wife. A song used a phrase and she asked me what that means. I knew how to use it but not really how to explain it. It sparked something in me that notices that kind of stuff now. :)

sound's like the opposite of explaining something to rado. I know what I'm saying and that it makes sense - but fuck if I can get it across his blood brain barriers.

A single mother just means she is single to me....doesn't imply anything about the father or how far away he is or what his relationship is. just like if the father was "Single" but only saw his kids every other weekend he would still be a single father.

See, what you're saying is opposite what B and I are saying. That means my ex can say he's a single dad, even though he really never has the kids. :dunno:

To me, if both parents are goo(financially and stable)....then both should get joint custody and work visitation out...
Shut up, this isn't even about that. Don't try and stir up some stupid debate.
