You quote me to try and make me sound contradictory. The problem is with your reading and connecting dots where there are none. I played your little game even though it was obvious before I gave my reasons I knew it wasn't going to matter what I said. You will hold onto your blind faith regardless.

You act like it has to be all about me every second of the day for me to have a justifiable problem with religion. Have you never seen someone suffering at the acts of others and understood that it was wrong? Did it it make you want to stand up for those people that can't and along side those who can? You have proven that what I said earlier about you and your faith only being skin deep. You just want to close your eyes and pretend like everything is fine the way things are. I on the other hand want to see equality for everyone not just equality for those who share my beliefs. I have friends that are gay and their hardships due to your faith effects me. Why wouldn't it, I care about them. What kind of world do you want your kids to grow up in? I want one where people are treated with more dignity than what religion does. Should I just sit back and hope it happens? No, that won't work. So I do what I can.

Exactly. I'll keep my life out of religion when religion is kept out of my life. Seems fair but we know it will never happen.The imperialistic nature of religion makes this impossible. Bouncer tries to tell me to ignore it all. Maybe it's because he doesn't have kids or simply lives a specific enough life that it doesn't effect him. But it has it's hand in just about every part of life, so living life free from religion is impossible. I always like to give a general reminder that freedom of religion includes freedom from religion.

It sounds easy enough but the whole concept of faith is irrational. That's why it's called faith. I always try to discuss things respectfully at first. Then the more redicoulous things get it's a tailspin for everyone.

Let me just say that so far since I've been on this board, what I know about you is that you are a good debater, you are intelligent, and you are an atheist. I know nothing else about you. So just a thought, maybe instead of thinking everyone is ramming religion down your throat you should stop ramming your non-religion down peoples throats. So far that's what I see you do constantly. I admit that some of the messages on here from certain people of faith are a bit concerning, and it seems that they are deliberately setting themselves up for argument, but as I said earlier, talking about non-religion all the time is no different than someone talking about religion all the time. I have respect for you because you believe something and you stick to your guns to defend it. I have left my thoughts and beliefs out of these threads because they are my beliefs and I'm not here to persuade, or force on anyone what I believe, so all I can ask is respect in return.:)

Here's my thing with all that. Besides this thread (which stemmed off another thread) when was the last time I started the discussion. As you stated people set themselves up. They bring it up and I talk about it. It seems like I always end up getting the same response about being in the discussion. As if I'm not allowed to talk about it when ever it comes up but everyone else is. There are a lot of threads with car talk that can turn a bit heated. It's usually the same people in those threads. It's the same thing with me and religion threads.
