How do I get out of jury duty?

So I got a letter then I have to come in for jury duty in February.

During the jury selection process what is the best method of getting out of it?

Do I just act really opinionated and biased? I would think they wouldn't want that type of person on the jury.

from what i've seen they usually pick people who have already been exposed to a case similar to the one they have been selected for. so when they ask "if someone close to you has been charged with a similar offense, please come up", don't go up. but i'm not sure if that would work.

Well the racism card and biased views dont work anymore from what I hear. If you just go in talking about Jesus and God that may actually work.

i would think it would be the opposite of what you are saying.

if someone close to you has been charged with a similar offence that would mean you would show a bias towards the case and thus they would not want you.

wouldnt they want a person that has no opinion either way on the case and is pretty much a blank slate?

Chances are usually pretty good that you won't actually get picked. You have to check the website the night before and a lot of the times you will be excused because they have already picked the jurors.

If not, good luck. I attempted to express myself as being racist without coming straight and saying it yet making it abundantly clear but they completely over looked it.

However, my fathers friend a very racist and unstable Vietnam vet told them that he cannot be held accountable for his actions if he loses control inside the courtroom. He told them that he gets freaked out by pressure, crowds, and close quarters and that he wasn't making threats but he may flip out. They released him.

That is a huge way not to get picked. I believe they almost never take Vietnam Vets for that exact reason from what i've been told.

so there is no real sure fire way to get out of it then?

i figure i will just try to show a bias towards one side or the other on whatever the case is about. i figure they do not want a biased person that favors one side over the other.

like if the case is about shoplifting i will tell them my uncle used to own a store in the city and people would take shit all the time, so i hate shoplifters. same sort of thing for whatever the case is about.

You could always threaten the judge. No jury duty after that.

It has become more difficult to get out of there in all seriousness. If you can show a severe financial hardship, you will be excused. But having two incomes in your home will limit that option for you.

HAving school is another way to get out of it.

Other than that, there is no sure way to avoid it. Being loud and annoying while there may just work

always, what do you think about the being judgmental and biased thing? you think they will try to avoid someone that they think is really opinionated etc..?

i would think they would want a fair person that doesnt have a biased etc..
