Deca, what kind of gun is that?
HK45 compact super nice gun and way over your price budget you posted. that would be a awsome carry gun or get the full size and that would be a awsome home gun.
I was super die hard HK fan for many many years but all the good rifles are banned here (lol I still have 2) and I have the USP9mm the HK45 is banned here also of I would have it for sure

Show me one 1911 frame that has even come close to the kind of torture tests that the Glock has endured. Ya you can customize the shit out of a 1911, I have a custom Kimber..love the thing to death actually, but at the end of the day it has more moving parts, and requires more overall maintenance than my Glock. Its simply just the way it is. The tolerances a 1911 platform is built to simply cannot stand up to the constant abuse of a regular high volume shooter, or an austere environment. And I love my 1911. I consider the HK to be an overpriced designer pistol. Not saying its not a good pistol ROCKET;) but you are paying for a logo and hype rather than performance or function.

Note I was addressing the statement about overall accruacy, reliability and functionality of a stock Glock pistol in a combat environment or high use environment. As I said there are very nice guns out there, Kimber makes some great 1911 platforms, there are alot of custom handguns, and there are some off caliber pistols that are fun to shoot. If your a casual shooter, or clean/carry your gun more than you shoot it, then I am sure any of these would work well.
yes i can sgree with all that and it is that same exact thing all the AK guys say to the AR guys and vice versa.
Going to war I would take glock over my Wilson Combat
for a simple everyday carry gun in my hands the Wilson Combat smokes the Glock and I have my Glock full blown race ready. In stock fourm the glock and me just dont get along.
the trigger is a nightmare even compared to my HK the sights and me do not agree either. now lets not talk about the grip. it is the worst in the entire bunck of guns I ever held. If I grab it proper the rear sight sits about 1 inch lower than the front. I have to adjust my wrist. NO OTHER gun I have held is hat way they all just line up quite natural.

saying all that I still have 2 of them sorta 1 is my kids i got her for Xmas

I've been going back and forth on either purchasing a XDs or a Glock 36. Then this past weekend I was talking to a guy that is very knowledgeable in firearms and he asked why I was looking at a 45. His recommendation was the XDs 9mm. Less recoil and holds 2 more rounds than the XDs .45. Makes some sense but the .45 will do more damage.

What caliber do you guys carry and why?

Wait on the xds. I have the 45 and it is at Springfield right now for recall work. They have had it for 2 months....frustrating.

I did Carty my xds since it was so small, but now I have been carrying my Glock 19. It doesn't weigh much more and it is 16 rounds vs 6. I think I will continue to carry the 19 when the xds gets back to me.

Forget about damage, bigger holes, knockdown power, all that other crap that people like to spew when talking guns. Pick which one that YOU shoot best. The 9mm self defense ammo of today is a different animal than the ammo of 1990, it is much better. I feel fine carrying my Glock 19 as well as my XDs 45, I do like that the Glock is holding almost triple the capacity of the XDs, so that is why I may just stick with the Glock when the xds gets back to me. I carried a Glock 26 for a couple of years and then got the xds for a smaller carry gun.

I would not get the Glock 36, if you want a concealable Glock .45 then get the Glock 30s.

How can your Glock 19 be easily concealed holding that many rounds? I don't wear baggy cloths. Most my tshirts and dress shirts are "fitted". That's the main reason I was looking at a smaller size gun.

I did hear about the issues the XDs 45 but thought the issue was resolved for all new purchases.

glock makes a single stack (slimmer gun now) I still think the shoot like shit IN MY HANDS !
I can shoot anything a lot better than my glocks. if you are gonna carry you don't need 16 rounds lol unless you live in down town Afghanistan or something. I would seriously rent a block and a HK or XD and compare how well you shoot it. to me not even close.
I agree with turbo don't listen to knock down power and all the other BS a 22 placed in the right spot kills just a s fast. what ever cal you feel best with 9 or 45 is what Id go with.

Sold my HKs, couldn't shot the well. Traded for an old w. German SIG that shoots like a dream. Too heavy for everyday.

I normally don't weigh in much on firearm threads because it inevitably turns into a dick measuring contest. I think I did early in this thread.. However, you asked a specific question, and I think the more up front information you have the better you will be able to make an informed decision.

I carry a firearm for a living. I have for twenty plus years. I have utilized, instructed, T&E'd, and put thousands of rounds downrange. I have used firearms in my line of work, both rifles and pistols, and have seen definitively what ammunition can do to the human body. I write that paragraph not out of bravado but merely so you will understand why I have the opinion I do.

I carry a Glock 19, with Hydroshock ammunition. I carry a Glock because quite simply its the best combat pistol out of the box in the world. Yes, you can super duper tune an 1911 and have a great gun, but Glocks simply don't fail. You can buy a Gucci H&K pistol, and its a good pistol, but its 2k and no better than a Glock, I think a Glock is better actually. I carry 9mm ammo because it is not the size of the round that determines stopping your attacker..it is shot placement. That is a definitive truth. Where you put your bullet determines outcome far more than the size of the round.

Additionally, I feel that I am better in a gunfight then 95% of the people on the planet and my training reflects such. Gunfighting is a perishable skill. If you decide to carry a pistol, make the decision to train with it. If not when the shit hits the fan you get killed, and maybe someone you love also.

XD's while being a good pistol have reliability issues...currently they are being recalled. Glocks have been around since the 1980's and I believe had one recall for the EAA thru EZZ series of pistols in 1992.(Actually there have been three performance based, the last in 02) The rail slide was weak and they replaced the frame of the pistol. I have carried a Glock in every environment you can think of, shot it in the same, and I have never had a Glock pistol malfunction because of the pistol. Shitty ammo yes, the pistol itself no. In my opinion you would be hard pressed to find a more reliable, dependable combat pistol out there. I'm NOT saying that there aren't some cool and good pistols out there, there are. I love Kahr compacts. But my daily carry is my Glock 19. I carry it at work, and I carry it at home, and I train with it. You fight how you train. Hope that helps.

                          IMHO:)

can't argue with any of that but I would still shoot a Glock before buying. the grip is not normal anyone will tell ya that. I had my grip reduced and re-shaped if you will to more like a 1911 and it still don't just line up with sights when i grab and point. every other gun I have lines up perfect.
I do not shoot them well at all. target style shooting that is. fast paced more big sized bullseye I fly with it but not actually target shooting. saying that I also spent 1800$ extra to make it a fast race gun.

I recently bought a Smith & Wesson M&P Shield 9 mm. Great CC gun, love it. Also picked up a great IWB tuck able holster from PJ Holsters. Very happy with that choice as well.
