  • HTC One X to Moto X - The king is dead, long live the king!

Did the deed... got the Moto X yesterday!

The HTC One X was a beast in its time, but I must say the Moto X is fantastic! Lots of cool features - I really like the proximity sensor, where if you wave your hand over it, it wakes up, or shuts off the alarm. Looking forward to getting it set up just right over the next few days...

Bouncer, is still on Android 4.4.4, so hopefully they will push Lollipop to it soon.. or is that something I need to initiate?

Good choice on the phone. You now have IMO the best phone on the market all things considered.

As for it still being on kit kat. Hmmm..

You did get the Moto X 2nd gen correct? The original Moto X is a bit outdated now and it will not get lollipop.

This is the phone I'm getting for me and my wife. Both free with upgrade but likely doing the edge program that has a $25/mo credit on a $23/mo finance. So I'll have a $2/mo credit. Losing my unlimited data but I haven't gone over 7GB in 2 years so the 10GB plan will suffice. Excited to have a good device for once. And with the edge program there is no contract and upgrade at anytime.

Looks like a really nice device for sure. Great to see Motorola stepping up their hardware game. Unfortunately it is missing one feature that I use on a daily basis. This one feature that has cornered me into a select few device manufacturers is the damn IR blaster. Makes my phone a convenient remote control. TV guide on board and works with almost all devices I've come across. Especially helpful when the kids lose the TV remote. Just can't do without it anymore. Sucks because I really like the moto x and nexus 6, hell even the iPhone but I just can't do without it.

I do like the HTC look much better. The brushed metal look is sharp and clean. Not a big fan of the curved back.

HTC One M8 looks sweet but too much bezel.

The moto x "feels" like more bezel to me the way the screen rounds over the edges. Feels cheap and plastic like. I want the moto x function with the HTC one feel and look.

                            Ergonomics. Fits the hand perfectly.

The M8 is a good half inch longer than the X but has a smaller screen, because of the amount of room taken up by the speakers. The speakers are definitely one of the highlights of the phone and a lot of people love it, but I never put the phone on speaker mode and to me, it's just wasted real estate.

Speaking of TV remotes, phones still use IR sensors? It would seem much easier to use your home wifi to send a signal to your TV or cable box to switch the channel. Aren't there apps that do that? I know that when I had a Comcast DVR, I could change channels, program the DVR, etc. over the net, not with IR.
