I havent been since I was a kid but fond memories and highly recommend.

Then I am not going there! :cheese:

You can't go to the Maldives on a 5-6 day trip from the US. It will take her 1.5 days just to get there.

I second the Arizona desert. Tucson area is beautiful. Some amazing hotels/spas with great pools and hiking etc.. Huge 25 feet cactus only found in that area of Arizona. I loved it there.

Tucson is good, Sedona is better. Avoid Phoenix (Scottsdale).

"Better" is subjective. Sedona doesn't have the type of cactus that grows as large as the variety in the Tucson area.

Some people would say that Sedona has become far too "touristy".

Fair enough. Tucson is more "Western". Sedona is a bit more new agey.

I stayed Dove Mountain Resort and that certainly wasn't any yee haw type place.

Not saying it's uniformly like that. I'm just talking about the general vibe of the town.

But yeah, the Sonoran desert is exceptional.

That's what I remember most about Tucson; cacti and tumble weeds. Always had the old Western movie vibe. And the plane graveyard.

I was thinking of that trip the other day and meant to ask where you stayed.

I'm considering an all-inclusive in Panama. Or even Honduras.

That type of landscape is really something I have zero experience with. I really should go see it. I feel like I'm always searching for exotic, but missing out on a lot of things a lot closer to home. I'm going to take a look. :)
