I watched it to better understand how something like this can happen. To better understand the situation and the person is the first step in trying to prevent these things from happening.

The reality of it..its life and death...untill you see death happen with your own eyes..you wont understand it and most have a fear of it happening to them..or even seeing it in person..you can accept it..or ignore it. Most have a fear of it because they are afraid of the unknown..or some dont like/ or cant understand the true violence of it..
it is what it is.. a sick fuck that took the life of some innocent people. Its nothing more or nothing less. A tragic event for those involved. It should be an example to all of us to always be aware of your surroundings and just be prepared for anything.
For example..I never sit in a restruant, or anywhere else for that matter, unless I can see the entrance or exit. I never put my back to it I always face it. Pistol is always in holster and heavy side is never in a bad position to where I cant draw if ever needed. Its not like Im paranoid or on edge, or a bad ass.. but Im aware of the situation at all times...or at least I try to be.
reason I say this..if you watched the shooters video..you would see he drew and pointed the weapon at the girl and held it there for several seconds...then dropped it..changed positions by a few steps..aimed again..then fired... none of the three people noticed him and he was mere FEET away from them... situational awarness could have saved them..or at least gave them a few seconds to react.....
watch and learn from the video...dont think of it as entertainment..

But what power do you have to prevent this from happening again? What will you change or try to change? It would only make sense in a personal defensive situation but without repetitive practice to gain muscle memory without thought, chances are we would all have been a victim. There just likely isn't time to think or react unless you aren't the direct target.Originally posted by TKD View PostI watched it to better understand how something like this can happen. Not sure about virginias laws but if it was Ohio I'd be willing to bet that place was a gun free zone. I try to avoid gun free areas as much as possible but it is inevitable to end up in some.Originally posted by lipripper View PostThe reality of it..its life and death...untill you see death happen with your own eyes..you wont understand it and most have a fear of it happening to them..or even seeing it in person..you can accept it..or ignore it. I can tell you for sure nothing will improve or change if no one tries.Originally posted by chuckz28 View PostBut what power do you have to prevent this from happening again? So you think I have to take some sort of immediate action to learn from the situation?
Understanding and trying to educate myself may affect the way I handle many situations. It may be in the form of situational safety it may be the way I interact with someone unstable or has a mental illness. It's not black and white; as this exact thing is highly improbable to happen to me or any of us.

I saw it for reasons I posted above, nothing else. If it were one of my family members, I'd still want to see it. Reality of life unfortunately; we're born with a death sentence. Tragic story here that some pos took it upon himself to be the executioner.Originally posted by chuckz28 View Post:agreed: Yeah I didn't even consider watching the video for even one second. Don't want to see that. I don't consider watching people dying on camera or even zit poping videos.

fee zone or not, doesn't make a difference.Originally posted by chuckz28 View PostNot sure about virginias laws but if it was Ohio I'd be willing to bet that place was a gun free zone. I try to avoid gun free areas as much as possible but it is inevitable to end up in some.

As a family member I wouldn't want the rest of the world watching it. And a gun free zone does matter significantly. Nobody with a concealed carry license can enter the establishments with their sidearm. Doesn't matter to the fu k head that shoots innocent people but it matters to the law abiding citizens.Originally posted by rado View PostI saw it for reasons I posted above, nothing else. I said I would want to see it, not saying I'd agree for anyone else to view it. Gun free zone means shit, for those who are NOT law abiding people.Originally posted by chuckz28 View PostAs a family member I wouldn't want the rest of the world watching it. However, anyone can be or act like a "law abiding citizen" you never know what's going on in someone's thoughts.
My gym lifetime, is a gun free zone. I'm a law abiding citizen and my two pieces are always with me; one in the car and one in my gym bag. Not one motherfucker knows this, only you fools. But my point is this; I could give two fucks what the signs say. If I have some motherfucker not wanting to abide by the rules of life and I'm able to stop that person from doing so.....yea, I'm going to do what's necessary and fuck the law abiding rules...it's all game for me now:wave:

I respect the law and a businesses decision to not want guns in their establishment. Sucks but I don't carry into those places. I generally find a good alternative store but in some cases I can't. For example I will not carry my sidearm onto my kids school premises. This leaves me locking it up in a lockbox I keep in both cars. Usually those places I will still have a good pocket knife but even then sometimes I can't do that. Sporting events now all seem to have metal detectors. Keeps the criminals from having weapons but it keeps me from it too. Hate the feeling of being without something.

Yea sorry bro, not me. I honestly can not recall the last time I didn't have one or both pieces; period. Kind of like my Amex, I never leave home without it:)Originally posted by chuckz28 View PostI respect the law and a businesses decision to not want guns in their establishment. I get what you're saying and although not in agreement with you, I just wouldn't necessarily follow anyone's rules that's telling me I can't protect myself.
The only person I'm afraid of is myself. I say that because thankfully I've yet to be put into a situation of life and death. I do know that if my time ever comes, brother I rest assured you I'm either gonna win with others or I'm going down....but I'm going to give you the most fucked up fight of your life, and I play dirty.
