A few years ago, they required all hunters to register their weapons they would hunt with on the instalation...guess what..the number of hunters dropped by almost 50%

    because IMHO 2 main things..
1, people didnt want to register so the goverment had a record of the firearm,
2, a lot were convicted felons..IE drunk driver, domestic violence etc and legally cant own a firearm, so they get them thru want ads or someone else buys it for them..which is a felony in its self..

This goes to show just how many people own guns in this country that they dont want the goverment to know of..and its just one little place for hunting...not any thing illeagle...so just think of all the criminals who intend to rob, gang bang etc and the numbers of guns out there. Its really mind boggling and why I feel you should have one ..or more and be able to use them for yourself to protect you yours and your property.

Just like FB was saying about her girl and school with pepper spray...why didnt someone jump up and stop this guy with the pepper spray? I mean what / how are honest good people supposed to protect themselfs in everyday life? They follow the rules and laws that are what I call (feel good laws) and I have to say are made with good intentions..but they really just allow the people they are designed to protect..to be victims.

it just sucks to be honest..but it is the reality of it.
take rocket for example. look how many guns he openly talks about or even brags about. look how easy it is for him to collect a million guns and tons of ammo.

not talking shit but rocket is an admitted felon and lives in a state which supposedly strict gun laws..

    It shouldn't be that easy.

Missing the point. The world looks up to America for its innovation and can-do attitude. And the world shakes its head and laughs at America for its inability to control gun violence.

It doesn't have to be that way.

My favorite media/politician buzzword. Why focus on one type of violence? How about we just openly talk about violence of all colors.

These senseless rampages need to stop, however, it has been shown that these psychos love the media attention. Let's do away with the 24h media coverage of sick killers. Let's decriminalize all illegal drug use and offer help instead of a cell, we should also see a decrease in gang violence related to drug distribution once it is decriminalized. How about we take the many, many, many officers that are hired just for the purpose of drug law enforcement and maybe they can find nice jobs at schools and workplaces. The government has an ongoing war on drugs that provides jobs for government employees, provides work for lawyers and judges, and keeps the private prison system flush with cash. The war on drugs was lost a long time ago. They want you to believe that the main danger to your child is illegal street drugs, when in reality the drugs everyone should be worried about are dispensed everyday at your local pharmacy and written by your local doctors. This is a sick cycle and too many jobs are on the line for anyone to say STOP.

              agree and well said.

all one has to do is look at the history of Prohibition and it's outcome to see the similarity.

And I'm not some "die by my gun" type of person. I didn't own a gun until around 6 or 7 years ago. I like having one in my house for any late night intruders (god forbid) and I rarely get to carry on my person now that I am in and out of health facilities. I do like having it in my car when driving around crazy Atlanta and have liked to comfort of it laying on my lap when stopping at exits that have undesirable characters tapping on windows. I would go melt it down tomorrow if I thought that would somehow aid in reducing the murder rate in America, I just don't believe that argument that is continually pushed by politicians that 1. Have an agenda and are guarded by guns and 2. Have shown time and time again that we really don't have many rights anymore.

We can't even trust the government to follow due process anymore, so I'm not jumping up and down thinking that they can remove all of the guns from society and establish a utopia. Remove guns and I believe we would just see more Oklahoma city bombing type stuff occurring.

The devastating school shooting by Chris Harper-Mercer is made even more devastating by knowing that Harper-Mercer likely warned others of his plans via 4Chan. An image in Google cache shows that an anonymous 4Chan member warned other 4Chan members that a school shooting in Oregon would occur. The fact that the 4Chan image had been viewed more than 560,000 times is also sad, seeing as how Oregon schools weren’t closed prior to the 4Chan threat.

The difference is a hammer can't take out 20 people in a matter of seconds

Are you asking me how limiting guns to people with mental health issues would change anything??

Countries like France, China, Indonesia, Canada, Australia all conduct very strict background checks. Even Kenya, who could be considered a 3rd world country conducts checks on past and present criminal, mental health as well as domestic violence records. As in Australia these checks are regularly repeated and have to be passed. In Australia there are strict laws regarding where you can keep the firearm (has to be locked in gun safe) and you have to use it regularly as a member of a shooting range to remain licensed.

Blm posted saying how easy it was to pay cash for guns via Craiglist? or a similar site. That is mind boggling to me especially after over 40 mass shootings in one year. What is even more incredible to me is that it seems the general consensus of board members here and other Americans still don't see this as an issue.
