  • Dog Spends Over an Hour Pulling Injured Woman to Phone to Call 911

Janet Wilhem is a nurse, so she instantly knew she was in trouble after a severe fall in her garage left her pretty much stuck.

As she later found out, she had fractured her pelvis in five places, and her husband wouldn’t be home for another eight hours.

The nearest phone she could use to call for help was 20 feet away.

Her only comfort was Mabel, the black Labrador she’d rescued three years earlier. She reached for the dog to hold her and as she grabbed for Mabel’s collar the dog started backing up.

Wilhem thought the Lab was trying to get away. It took her a while to realize Mabel was dragging her toward the phone.

Mabel kept pulling Wilhem across the floor for an hour-and-a-half until she could reach the phone and call for an ambulance.

“I was so happy she was there,” a tearful Wilhem told WFAA News. “I said ‘Good girl, I love you, I love you.’ I was just so happy.”

Wilhem is learning to walk again, and her doctors in McKinney, Texas say if it hadn’t been for Mabel, the longer wait for help would have complicated her recovery.

Groundswell of Support for Heroic Pitbull Gets Citywide Ban Lifted

In 2013 a ban on Pitbulls was passed into law in Hazel Park, Michigan. Lovers of the breed could mount no serious challenges, until a heroic pup elicited an outpouring of support for lifting the ban.

Jaimie Kraczkowski was under attack from a violent boyfriend when her pet pitbull stepped in to protect her. The man reportedly suffered several injuries and a trip to the hospital.

She was told that, on top of everything, she would have five days to get rid of her dog.

But she could never feel safe without her dog, ‘Ice,’ and so immediately started thinking about moving.

With the help of the Michigan’s Political Action Committee for Animals and 177,000 folks who signed a petition demanding the ban be lifted, the group was able to successfully lobby the city council to get the law repealed.

FB my staffy puppy saw a chihuahua the other day for the first time. She started her "stalk walk" where she gets low with her tail up and walk toward it slow and silent. The only other time I've seen her do this is with squirrels. I believe she thought she was witnessing a squirrel on a leash. :D

What a little pain in the ass; basically 99% of chihuahuas I've been around. Pit could care less though.

Yea, I'm not a fan of any little "dogs" in general. We've take a wolf and turned it into something of little value other then to be carried around in a bag and gawked at by other women saying "awwwwwwwww"... lol.

Nothing personal FB, I know you love your baby as much as I love mine so I respect that. I guess I would be less bothered by "dogs" like that if they weren't called dogs. They should have a different title. Something like "Yip Yip carry along friends." :D

A "little dog" was used to achieve your bad ass bull terrier. They're not totally useless, lol.

                        A bull terrier isn't a staffy. It's a different breed entirely.

An no, "little dog" in the context that i'm talking about are chihuahuas and cockapoos and shit like that. Little dogs like terriers actually have much purpose breed to help on the farm etc..

You guys are acting like you "use" your dogs for something different than I use mine. They are all just pets at this point. I'm thankful they aren't all wolves anymore because if that were the case I wouldn't be able to have one. And as you stated, I love mine as much as you love yours. :)

                            Yes, I do :swoon:

I adore when big breeds KNOW the differences between sizes of animals and have so much patience with them.

I forgot yours was a staffy.

But they're still basically one in the same just smaller. The "pit bull" was renamed the amstaff back in the 70s. The cross breeding process is still the same. They're both bull terrier breeds.
