And what if it takes 5 kicks to the door? What if the gun isn't in the bedroom but under the couch? Acknowledge all possibilities and think on a higher level than a 3rd grader. I realize that's hard with a Turkish education but do your best.

Guns have saved lives in home and business invasions, this is not disputable, its a fact.

If I was fearing for my life every day, that may be a different story, but for my situation, preparing for such an unlikely event seems pointless.
All valid points and I understand your thinking completely.

But I think we both know that if faced with my scenario of a home invasion and if I were able to freeze time and offer you a gun right at the moment of that home invasion to defend your family, you'd take the gun..

Could always do a shotgun with non lethal rounds like bean bag shot or salt. For those that are less inclined to take a life.

I'll occasionally have a pistol on my hip in the house. I know a guy that keeps a pistol in every room. He must be a paranoid son of a bitch.

Anyway as for Christmas haha, only thing I really want is a wireless phone charging pad and maybe a couple more grippers. I need a new shaver but those things are too damn expensive and I'd rather spend the money on the kids.

Do your research. Type of gun, safes, safety classes, how to clean it, ect... Then take it to a range and practice. You will love target shooting B. It's so much fun. Do you know what type of gun you're interested in?

Lol it is so ironic...just like an typical American retard first thing you resort is the ratial insult. Trying to insult my education while you are showing lack of yours. You have no fucking idea how it feels to have your door kicked five times at 2am. It is such a disturbing feeling that I don't care if you have your finger on the trigger you still won't be able to do shit. Why do you think 99% of the the time cops fire hundred rounds and only hit once?

Through out the years of my apartment manager job I've had cops come to my door a few times because of fighting couples and stuff and even when they bang on the door to wake me up is just a disturbing feeling. It takes a good minute or two get your senses to calm down. But go ahead my naive friend, buy your gun and believe you can stop a home invasion with your zero training and zero gun experience. Lol.

By the way I'm not saying don't get a gun because I'm actually thinking about getting a shotgun since there is less chance of missing the person but don't have a false sense security because you have a gun tucked somewhere in your closet.

bro rest assured, when it comes to my family all jokes stop. there is no hot air. i'm sure it would be a terrifying experience, but it's not about being a tough guy or being brave. In that situation it's my families life on the line and I would not hesitate to do whatever it takes. A gun would certainly increase my chances.

It's hard to beat the reliability of a Glock and they are so simple to take apart and clean. That would be my recommendation. Next thing to consider is the size and caliber. Since you won't be carrying concealed definitely get a full size (standard). And would recommended a 9mm or .40 caliber. Nothing wrong with getting a used gun. I have bought from armslist before and snagged a great deal. Just like craigslist you can negotiate with the seller. Below is a Glock 22 in the Sacramento area (forget where you are located). You can filter by the state of CA and by region. Post up questions you have! Bunch of steroid gun carrying mofos on this site!

My only fear of buying used would be that I don't know enough about guns to spot a problem. I would need to know the place I'm buying from is extremely trust worth and not just a craigslist/ebay type gun shop.

All transactions/paper work would be done at a gun shop. I'm sure for a small fee the shop will go over it to make sure there are no issues. You can save some money buying used but if you're not too worried about the cost then absolutely buy new.

how much is a brand new glock 22?

what would the total cost be for registration, ammo, and anything else?

Probably wont happen for a while regardless. Don't have much left over each month after bills. Unless someone wants to donate a fellow gun lover theirs!? :D
