OK, I'm not very familiar with guns, so maybe I got the term wrong. But is there a middle ground, where an automatic rifle with a large magazine that can kill a lot of people rapidly (whatever the technical term for such a rifle is), could be controlled in terms of availability to the general population?

    Has drug control done anything?

Think about steroids. Maybe over in Australia you guys have a harder time getting them, but in America its easy as can be. Our black market is much bigger because we are a much bigger nation. You can't take your rules and apply them to us. Again, fire cracker vs a nuclear bomb.

Don't use media created terms. The media is already stating that the shooters were in "assault style clothing". Just a scare tactic. Maybe we can outlaw black clothing, possible camo also.

I was also going to ask what "assault type clothing" was

Scrum, also realize that background checks are conducted and they fail because you have 18 government agencies creating 42 different fucking lists and government employees are some of the WORST at doing their jobs. People fall though the checks because it is a government cluster fuck.

So the question is why? It has to be:

    1. More crazy people than Europe/Oz/Nz.

    2. Easier for crazies to get guns, especially assault rifles that can cause lots of damage in short periods of time.

Are we saying that NOTHING can be done and that's just the way it will be in America?

What's wrong with something like an assault rifle ban and VERY thorough background checks that will prevent people with mental issues from getting access to guns?

Will it stop every attack? Maybe not, but we seem to be paralyzed by the assertion that if we don't have a solution that addresses EVERY situation, we should do NOTHING.

Nobody is saying gut the 2nd amendment and take away everyone's guns, but we are unable to do ANYTHING, even sensible compromises.

I'm concerned with my rights being taken away and my right to self protection of my family and well being.

why are you so concerned with what happens here..your rights have already been taken away.. You used to have them but no longer do. WHY???? because of PEOPLE who didn't follow the law...that is sad in my opnion.I don't want to be in that position.

look up all the REAL gun laws and how they are implemented...then research the penalties for breaking those laws..then look at how EASY the criminals get over for breaking said law...its not the law scrum..your a smart guy..its the SYSTEM buddy..it don't hold the criminals to the standard of punishment that is set... so guess what..they go do it again when they get released early...when you can fix that..and criminals are actually held to that standard..you will see crime diminish(maybe). Not by taking it away from a law abiding citizen.

I would have to say yes...what do you think scrum...is it just because a gun is available..a "normal" person will go get it just to shoot up a school? really?
