30k a year for health insurance??

One of the problems with the ACA (Obamacare) is that the income cutoff is too low. What they need to do is to raise the income cutoff to allow more families to qualify. Apparently, that was being considered bit with the new President, it is not clear what will happen.

From all the people I talk to and from my personal experience, Obomacare sucks! Not saying it doesn't benefit some people but for the working class people prices have gone way up. I can afford the price increase but I know many that are struggling to. My brother in law is in business for himself and the cheapest insurance he can get for his family is $2K a month. My mom and step dad both semi retired but continue to work part time. They are 2 years away from being able to get medicare and next year their insure will go up to $30K a year. lol How can people afford that? Something has to change.

All in saying is that the guys he's got in there are sharks who have been circling Medicare and Medicaid for a long time. We'll see what happens but the changes Price and Ryan are proposing look scary.

Changes are needed. It is not sustainable in the current model. It is frustrating to watch diabetics and COPD patients, for example, refuse to treat themselves correctly. They don't care because they have no skin in the game. People need to prepare for their future. I'm not planning to have any social security when I'm 70. The program will be bankrupt long before then. Government fucked up Healthcare and they then tried to fix it. What a novel idea.

It is easy to read about healthcare in the bias media, it is different working in it everyday.

They have been talking about privatizing medicare here for the last 2 years. Not sure it will ever happen.

The difference is that they have control over both houses and the presidency, and more importantly, the HHS secretary to be, and the Speaker of the House are both motivated to do it. Dems can filibuster, but if McConnell changes the Senate rules, that won't help.

If you've got money and health, it's all good. But given the cast of characters being assembled in the Cabinet, and the fact that the GOP controls all 3 bodies of govt, if you are older and down on your luck, the US is likely to become a much more cold-hearted and scary place than it already is.
