I guess you and I see things quite differently at a pretty fundamental level.

You see, I am not proud or not proud to be an American. To me, being proud to be an American doesn't make any sense. That's like saying I am proud to be human. It's who I happen to be. I derive no pride or lack of pride from it.

It's what America does that matters to me.

I am proud of some things that America does or stands for, just as I am not proud of some things America does or stands for. My hope is that over time, there will be fewer and fewer things that I am not proud of that America does or stands for.

I don't have a problem with being proud of your country and where you come from. But it can go too far. Sometimes people can be so "patriotic" they refuse to acknowledge anything negative about the place they are so proud of. It can act as a set of blinders for some people and lead to some pretty bad things..

Yes some take it too far....some also deny reality when it doesn't for their agenda...as I said...just be real. If someone is so blind not to see the harm it's doing ....your not being real.you can't change history..but your supposed to be smart enough to learn from it..let's be honest...

But back to the original point with the whole kneeling thing. I actually agree with you. Bunch of fake ass hypocritical sheep.

You think Kaepernick is fake? I got to disagree with you on that. He has paid a heavy price for his activism. There's NO way he's the 97th best quarterback in America, to not be even a 3rd stringer on the worst team in the league.

Maybe he isn't but most of those fuckers doing it now are just following along. All about the image.

Keeping it real.... You don't think black people are treated differently then whites by police?? If you say anything but "Yes they are" then you're the one not keeping it real.

Rip, I served this country just like you. I am proud when I see people standing up for themselves. We fought and put our lives on the line to protect that right. The "goverment" is not "This country" the people are!

I believe in personal freedom! If you want to lay down and take a nap during the national anthem, go ahead, doesn't effect me. If you want to be racist or religious or do drugs, or protest shit, knock yourself out. Doesn't effect my life. I'm proud to see people using their freedoms that I sacrificed for.

And I joined the military on my own choice for my own reasons, I didn't do it for acknowledgement or thanks. Sitting during the national anthem isby being disrespectful to me.

I agree with what you saying Frank...I have pretty much the same mind set. Here's the issue that people ignore. And let's be real here...the NFL won't take a stand on this..
Because it will be racist. If anyone else stood up for their agenda it would be knocked down in min...they would be racist. Foot ball like all sports is about bringing people together.to enjoy the game...life...but to bring political agenda into it...is wrong.but it's ok for them to claim racisim making millions...pure bullshit.they aren't held back..they are given a golden spoon to play a game. Funny everyone says kapernick is getting fucked...what about tbow....Lolo only heismen trophy winner to not have a job...but you don't see him crying religious persecution...funny how one group gets away with anything they want but no one else can..like I said...just be real. It's dividing our country.plain and simple

I agree with scrum, frank, and rip. doesn't seem possible but in this case i agree with scrum in the sense that patriotism isn't exactly the best thing and it can lead down a dark road. i agree with rip in the sense that it's okay to be proud of where you live and where you come from and some people thrive on shitting on the very nation that has allowed them such success. i agree with frank in the sense that part of what makes America great is the freedom to say and do what we want (within reason) and not get our head chopped off for it.

                        back to football.

anyone see the cowboys game? Dallas looks good. did a lot of unconventional shit in that game. the score doesn't really reflect how much they controlled that game because the giants defense is pretty damn good but Dallas owned the game. I'm going to make an early prediction. Dallas will be in the superbowl.

                          https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/don...-fired-n804086

Trump, during an extended riff at a rally speech in Huntsville, Alabama, said those players are disrespecting the flag and deserve to lose their jobs.

"That's a total disrespect of our heritage. That's a total disrespect of everything that we stand for," he said, encouraging owners to act.

"Wouldn't you love to see one of these NFL owners, when somebody disrespects our flag, you'd say, 'Get that son of a bitch off the field right now. Out! He's fired," Trump said to loud applause.

Just saw in the news. In the last 3 days trump has made 16 tweets about the NFL and 0 about Puerto Rico. Blows my mind. Regardless of how anyone feels about the kneeling issue, I think we can all agree the President should be focused on far more important issues like a devastated island with no power that is an American territory.
