But I am also not blind to the reality of how hard it is as an Asian male to distinguish oneself from the thousands of other Asian males applying for some of these colleges. It's just the way it is.

Candidates will always outnumber seats, of course.

You tend to bring race and culture up quite often and your way of thinking is a bit out there.

Just avoid the infantry and join the Navy instead? Serving on a carrier can't be *that* stressful, can it? I don't know jack about the military, so I'm just guessing here.

The truth and rational thought are sometimes uncomfortable, but that's what you will get from me.

I was not infantry. I was artillery (fire direction specialist/advanced field in artillery tactical data system). Loved every second of being a soldier.

                Tax free pension. Can't complain

Navy? Nah. To dumb to join navy

Not saying you're wrong scrum. Just not necessarily the case.

I think of my son who's 10 and in 7yrs, he'll be going to school. I'm sure by then, things will be worse/better.

When I was applying for schools, I applied to Mercer(Macon GA)....I got in.

I applied to Lehigh(just for fun)....I got in.

I applied to UF and UM....got denied to UM but accepted at UF.

Ultimately I applied to USF and got in.

I took my SAT 4 times and got a 1380...took my ACT and was a 28...on first try.

I had to do a letter, no recommendations at all....my point, I'm Hispanic, yet Lehigh and Mercer accepted meanwhile some Florida schools didn't

I hear what you are saying Rado, but trust me, places like Harvard and Stanford are in a different league. Stanford acceptance rate was 4.3%. Think about that. 50,000 students applied, they let in 2000. It's crazy.
