The person who loves his country the most is the one who is constantly aware of its faults and limitations and works tirelessly to fix them. Not the one who ignores his country's failings and explains them away or worse, revises history to glorify them.

Yea but a person who constantly points out faults and never gives any praise when due can't be the definition of someone who loves his country either.Originally posted by Scrumhalf View PostThe person who loves his country the most is the one who is constantly aware of its faults and limitations and works tirelessly to fix them. I'm not at war against scrum just tired of him finding fault in America...but loving to take advantage of it's freedoms and liberties, that are provided by it's founders it's military and those who sacrificed to make it this way. He comes off as an ungratefull person to anyone who believes in why it was and how it was founded. Again if it's so bad why stay,? Your not forced to...go where history meets your needs so you can be happy.Originally posted by Bouncer View PostRip I would like to agree with you in our war against scrum the anti white but I can't understand a word you just said. I think people being forced to stand for the flag and do other rituals is idolatry. Worship the flag, worship nationalism.Originally posted by lipripper View Postwow...but people not standing for the flag are outstanding citizens...you attitude is part of the problem. if its so fucked up here..why do you stay? why not leave? go where is better? serious question.

It's respect...not worship...your mixing with religious faith. Nationalism...nothing more then team spirit...don't make it out to being like Nazis...and how they were...that's rediculcus. Yet your leaning towards it with how you made that statement..Originally posted by AvidFisherman View PostI think people being forced to stand for the flag and do other rituals is idolatry. i think Americans in general tend to take things for granted. i think if all of us were forced to spend some time in some 3rd world shit hole we may be reminded just how good we have it.Originally posted by AvidFisherman View PostI think people being forced to stand for the flag and do other rituals is idolatry. no country is perfect, not by a long shot, but to disregard all the great things about this country and constantly point out it's flaws is a cancer that is growing rapidly in this nation.
nobody is asking you to worship anything but a little respect for a nation that has given you so much might be nice..

I got no doubt about scrums contributions. He is the definition of the American dream.
My issue is that he always seems to be complaining about the country, never any praise. It comes across very negative to me. I don't understand why it always has to be negative.

That is simply not true. I talk all the time positively about American science, engineering and our love for the land, especially out West where I have spent most of my life, our awesome music and literature, our generosity as a people, etc.Originally posted by Bouncer View PostI got no doubt about scrums contributions. When you are a great athlete and you want to become an elite athlete, what do you focus on in the off-season? The 9 things you do well, or the 1 thing you don't? That's America. We are a great country that is 90% good. I want it to be an elite country that is 99% good. So, I focus on the 10% that is not good in the country. You have to look in the mirror every day and talk about the warts you see. Not ignore them.

Listen to Vince McMahon talk about the XFL where the players are required to stand during the national anthem. Trump and Fox News pundents talking negativley about the NFL players kneeling for the national anthem.Originally posted by lipripper View PostPlease show me where people are Forced to stand for the flag...never...they are asked to please stand and show respect.

Children in schools being forced to stand and pledge allegiance to the flag, of the United States of America. "You shall not make for yourself an image in the form of anything in heaven above or on earth below. You shall not be down to them or worship them" Exodus 20: 4-5.
Nationalistic expressions make us serve two (2) masters. "No one can serve two masters" Matthew 6:24. Nationalism is defined as loyalty and devotion to a nation. It is placing one nation above all others. Nationalism believes God supports the nation, i.e. the British saying, "God and Country!"
"We must obey God rather than human beings," Acts 5:29.
