I can support this. A proper background check is just something the "shall not infringe, no compromise" crowd is going to have to accept. We live in a world of nuts and good law abiding gun owners need to realize that if this shit keep happening our guns rights are simply going to disappear. I do believe that if our founding fathers were here today and could give their opinion on the issue they would agree that in light of all these recent mass shootings that we need to at the very least have strong background checks and better enforcement of the laws already on the books.

Trump backs effort to improve gun background checks: White House

(Reuters) - The White House said on Monday that President Donald Trump supports efforts to improve federal background checks for gun purchases, two days after a shooting at a Florida school killed 17 people.

Trump spoke to Senator John Cornyn, a Republican, about a bi-partisan bill that he and Democratic Senator Chris Murphy introduced to improve federal compliance with criminal background checks, White House spokeswoman Sarah Sanders said.

“While discussions are ongoing and revisions are being considered, the president is supportive of efforts to improve the federal background check system,” Sanders said in a statement.

Cornyn and Murphy introduced the bill to improve federal background checks last November, days after a gunman killed more than two dozen people in a church in Texas.

The bill, called the Fix NICS Act, would ensure that states and federal agencies comply with existing law on reporting criminal history records to the national background check system.

Cornyn, of Texas, had complained when introducing the legislation that compliance by agencies was “lousy.”

Students from the Florida high school where a former student is accused of murdering 17 people last week using an assault-style rifle, are planning a “March For Our Lives” in Washington on March 24 to call attention to school safety and ask lawmakers to enact gun control.

Bouncer, the part you're ignoring that many of us have tried to tell you is that old school gun guys, including the NRA do use the term interchangeably in casual conversation even though we know their is a distinct modern difference in the definition of each. If I go to a store of course I'll be specific in what I'm asking for, but when talking casually we might use the two interchangeably out of habit.

I'm going to create another thread to disprove your claims of you being more experienced than me so that we don't junk this one up since there is some good discussion in here.

Not really true bro. The Savage 110 Rifle from the 50's is a good example. It's a bolt action rifle, but they came out with another model in 1958 called the "110c" because it actually held a magazine unlike the original 110. Guess what the "C" stands for? Clip. Even gun manufacturers confused the term. That's one example. Here is a pic of the 110c with it's magazines (called clips in the user manual).

yea I wouldn't doubt it in the 50s I am old but not that damn old, not sure what they said then? prob use both as the mag wasn't really used till vietman in the M16 I guess before that they used what ever but now a days no one uses clip as a mag other than non gun people.
