Chuck, you are conflating two different things.

One is whether we want to collectively pay taxes to support the poor, the disadvantages, etc. That is up for debate, do we want to be a laissez faire state, or with strong social safety nets.

But the other is who pays for whatever we do agree is in the common good. Maybe some defense, maybe some Medicare/Medicaid, maybe veteran benefits. The problem that I am trying to point out is that rich people pay much less than they should in this country. Moreover, when there is a tax cut like this last one, rich people got the biggest breaks. Why are you for supporting this? Don't you see that the 1% is robbing everyone else?

Rich people aren't robbing anyone. They are good at collecting money. Some people are good at basketball or Construction other people are good at collecting money. That's the way of life. For the third and final time I do not care how much money somebody else has. I am concerned about my well being and if I feel bad about a someone with bad misfortune I'll donate to a cause. I am not into anyone being forced to help someone.

It is objectively measurable and true. It is sad that people are conned by the rich and powerful to vote against their own best interests.

You're idea of fair is different than my idea. The extreme left wants equality of outcome. The right wants equality of opportunity.

So you think the last tax cut was fair?

The 1% got the vast majority of the money.

The corporations got a great tax break that they turned around and gave to the shareholders in terms of dividends, or plowed into share buybacks to drive up the EPS and share price.

Sounds like you like what happened there. Even though this is a grand siphoning of middle class money straight into the pockets of the rich. Your response seems to be - well, if the rich and powerful are rapacious bastards, its up the rest us to become rapacious bastards too instead of complaining about their behavior.

All the GOP cares about is the wealthy.

Which one of the Democrats sitting at the kavanaugh hearing aren't filthy rich? How much do they give to charity?

                      • There is no trickle down. Steel workers are striking. Fat cats took all the money and gave their employees crap in a paper bag.

                        • The Dems aren't saints either and can be just as easily beholden to Wall Street, but they are demonstrably more progressive than the Republicans.

But, the true progressives, the Bernies and Ro Khannas, are the ones who have the right approach to handling the absolutely shameful wealth disparity in this country.

                          • LOL @ trickle down. That's the same thing that was promised in this last tax cut. Turns out, it was a shit sandwich. Surprise, surprise. All the tax cuts went to dividends and share buybacks and the workers got squat.

Plus, union busting is in fashion, in this admin as well as the way the SC is shaping up. Once the unions are broken, the coup will be complete. The Kochs of the country would have won.

He's a progressive and supports progressive ideals and programs. He's done a lot of good with his money. He certainly isn't responsible for any of the garbage associated with him by the ultraconservatives.
