I've already called 4 - I just got back in touch with my primary and she said she will call today also and by tomorrow she said she will know if anything is available sooner - I told her expand the mile to up to 100 or more if it gets me in the door sooner, she understood and was cool about it.Originally posted by THE BOUNCER View Postyou are too smart to not no that! dont be lazy about your health.

Oh, come on, that's crazy for you to say.
It is NOT as easy as you would like to think. I've worked in the medical field for years, if the doctor isn't calling him/her self stating the patient needs to be seen ASAP, then it usually isn't happening. All you can do is call around, and asked to be put on a cancellation list.

In art of war's defense, it is next to impossible to even find a Doctor in Mass. with mandatory health-care, this state is all fucked up it is flooded with patients., I tried to get a new doctor and just gave up after 5 straight-up turned me down.

every time i ever needed to see a specialist about anything i was able to get in within 7-10 days. If someone told me "a month" I would call the next one on my insurance list until I got in sooner.Originally posted by FitnessBrat View PostOh, come on, that's crazy for you to say.

maybe thats the issue then. in nj/nyc i have never had to wait anywhere close to the time frame thet are telling him.Originally posted by Konitz View PostIn art of war's defense, it is next to impossible to even find a Doctor in Mass. with mandatory health-care, this state is all fucked up it is flooded with patients., I tried to get a new doctor and just gave up after 5 straight-up turned me down.
hell, i saw my primary, saw a surgeon, had an MRI, went back to the surgeon to read the MRI, and scheduled the surgery all in the course of 7 days. surgery was 10 days after that.
the way art of war makes it sound, it would have taken him 5 months to do all that.

When my friend tore his knee it up he had to wait to wait 4 weeks to see the surgeon, then two more weeks for surgery, in Mass everything takes forever. Only reason I got all my shit done with my foot surgery fast, was the risk of bones healing together improperly.

The point is, his doctors are okay with the wait time, so nobody is going to "rush" anything. I've told him to be the "squeaky wheel", but otherwise, he can't do a lot on his own.

doesn't matter. he has a referral now. he makes the appointment with the specialist. when you call the specialist to make an appointment the receptionist doesn't check to see if its urgent. they simply make the appointment when there is an opening. "his doctors" have nothing to do with future appointments of specialist.Originally posted by FitnessBrat View PostThe point is, his doctors are okay with the wait time, so nobody is going to "rush" anything. You keep saying this, that's what I'm telling you is wrong.

why do you people keep saying "call the doctor to find another one". YOU DON'T NEED THE DOCTOR.Originally posted by radoIf an appt is even available...Otherwise, then yes, I would call the Dr again for another one to go and visit...
the doctor will only refer him to the closest specialist and call it a day. he has the option to go online or call his insurance company to get a full list of specialist under his insurance plan.
if he is searching a 100 mile radius like he said he was there are probably 100 specialist between boston and NYC.
art of war, YOU DO NOT NEED TO "TELL THE DOCTOR" TO SEARCH THE 100 MILE RADIUS. You can easily look for yourself.
