Our life expectancy is good, but there is no reason we can't be better. That is a problem. Settling for 47 because first is only 4 years away is not acceptable.

          # 93 West Bank: 74.29 years 2008 Time series

The citizens of the west bank are "only" 4 years below us. And they blow each other up. Four years is an eternity in these rankings

lol, subtract 78 years from 82 years you get four years.
Four years is four years no matter what place your country is on the list, seems that this simplest of math concepts is beyond comprehension. I just showed this thread to my cat, she understood that regardless of where your placed on the list in the first 50 countries only four years separate 2nd from 47th. A little over a year from 22nd to 47th. You have a dollar Japan is 98 cents the USA is 94 cents, 4 cents difference.

It's a fair amount but not as much as I would have expected considering how terribly the majority of Americans treat themselves. Just think how long our life span as a nation would be if everyone watched their diet and exercised. I was actually surprised at how well we compared to many other nations in years lived.

I was just thinking about this while reading. Do you know how many total years it would take to increase our average 4 years? 1.3 billion years is needed to increase our average 4 years. IF you look at it that way, that is an incredible gap

Where did that nonsense come from? We more than doubled our life expectancy in Europe in a few hundred years. And nearly doubled our life expectancy in this country in just a little over 200 years.

We have approximatley 325 million people in the US. In order to bump the average life expectancy up one whole year, that would be 325 million years. So to bump it up 4 years, the total number of years Americans would have to live is 1.3 billion years.

I was not saying it would take that long. If every current american lived four more years, that would raise our life expenacy four years. The total sum of that years is 1.3 billion.

So in theory, if no one died for the next four years, our life expectancy would increase by 4 years. 4 years times 325,000,000= 1,300,000,000

Your math is correct, but it hasn't anything to do with this thread or anything related to it. You just multiplied 325, 000.000 times 4 and came up with 1.3 billon. I see what you did, but can't understand your logic for doing so?

In my opinion, it demonstrates that four years is quite a difference. Though, fro,m looking at the whole post, i think it is a moot point since we both believe the US should be higher up. We jsimply disagree on if 4 is big difference

the bottom line here is that the thread has changed into an argument over the US rank on the list that lifts posted and thats not what the thread is about. no matter what rank we are, america eats like a big pile of shit and the paleo diet is not a good option compared to a healthy bodybuilding diet.
