Fix the cause of your stress. Herbal remedies, booze, etc aren't going to make it go away. Only you can do that.
Change your job, change your relationship, change your lifestyle. But what you've got going on now isn't working. Complacency, waiting for your issue to turn around is failure in a bottle. Be proactive.
Good luck!

I'm a single mom working at two different jobs and trying to go to school to better mine and my children's lives. I am anything but complacent. I'm not looking for a quick "fix" nor do I drown in my sorrows over the whisky bottle. I thought it was fairly obvious I was simply looking for something to take the edge off for a moments relaxation - whether it be a tea, a vitamin, etc.

Yeah children, school, two jobs, and not complacent. You're right MJ isn't for you.Originally posted by FitnessBrat View PostI'm a single mom working at two different jobs and trying to go to school to better mine and my children's lives. Props on the busy lifestyle though. Finishing school will be a huge accomplishment for you. I went back later in life to finish and it felt great when it was all over so hang in there and when school is done you will have less load on your shoulders.
What is your major FB? Or are you working on a graduate degree?

Some people I know closely swear by 5 HTP. I personally have not used it though. Stress is something that effects us all and can be hard to deal with but your doing the right thing by addressing the problem.Originally posted by FitnessBrat View PostI am overloaded with stress right now. I'm at the point where I'd love to just run away and hide out in a cave, alone. Is there anything herbal that can possibly help (even just a little) your mental/emotional well being? I don't like taking things, have never taken meds, etc, but I'm grasping. My body handles stress very physically, and I can't afford another dive anytime soon. Any suggestions?

It is great for stress/mood but terrible for sex drive, and avoid if you are already prescribed an SSRI.Originally posted by Alin

Makes you sleep like a baby.
I would still be taking them if they didn't mess with my sex drive.

I've actually started thinking I probably shouldn't be taking anything, at the moment. I still haven't been able to get my blood work stable, and that's been since August (the DVT/blood disorder I had). I'd hate to have something else affect my levels before my medication is stable.

It's really not that simple, though. Blood thinners are definitely a drug that is "custom" to each person - and there's a lot of things that can influence the efficacy (certain foods high in vitamin k, being sick, not eating, etc etc). There's just nothing else that can be used as treatment. The idea is to keep your INR between two numbers. Once you have good numbers a couple times in a row, you can go longer in between checks. I haven't made it past the 2 week mark yet.

Yep. They take time and lab work to dial in.Originally posted by FitnessBratIt's really not that simple, though.
