Well, I took my first long walk today at my local beautiful park and sometimes race course. Walked like a bit if a gimp with my foot drop but enjoyed the sunny day and fresh air and virtually no pain. I could feel my body thanking me and tonight I feel more relaxed and went to watch Captain America Civil War which is the first time I've been able to go to the cinema in six months.
My plan is to keep up the gentle strolls in the park daily for the first phase of healing the disk after discectomy, so 2-3 weeks.
After this I will commence swimming regular and make that my new excercise for the next few months.

Trust me I know what you mean. Everytime I come off I lose 20lbs and feel like a bitch. I hate looking in the mirror when im off. My problem is I am too aware of the health impacts when I am on and it scares me. When i am taking stuff that puts my pulse up nearly 20 beats and my BP borderline and with history of heart disease in family. Already diagnosed with enlarged heart. What am I supoosed to do? I would love to stay on but I guess if it comes to staying on or staying healthy, these days I will take the latter.Originally posted by Bouncer View Postas funny as that would probably be, i can't say I would want to see him go through that. a lot of you guys here seem to be "okay" with coming off and dealing with all that comes with that. not mr.i. he's similar to me in that regard. i've seen the up and down roller coaster on here that he goes through. certain fellas are too high strung to deal with feeling beta.

Last shot probably 10 days ago, yeah just TrT. At the end of the day they've had to cut through back muscle so it pays to eat well and encourage recovery

How long since your last shot?Originally posted by Mr I View PostYou have to remember though I've been lifting since 12 years old and im 39 now. So having time away doesn't affect the long term. This is me now, no pronounced bulging muscle but no tub of lard either and still a reasonable strong build at about 235lb

That's a difficult one. Normally they say six weeks for a herniation type deal to heal. Where mine was surgically sliced and picked I'd say the same but don't forget they would have blobbed some prednisone (steroid) on the site to give immediate anti inflamatory too. I think it's 3 to six months for a full heal.
In the mean time it's walking, some swimming and in a week or so some isolated gym work very light maybe.
Three months before proper gym stuff and even then no bent rows, deads, squats, stood curls. All supper controlled and not even forced reps.

I think the executive summary of this long rambling blog thread is that if you get a herniated or prolapsed disk, by all means try conservative treatment but please don't be put off by surgery because at this point I would say it's changed my quality of life completely. I am in no pain and need very few drugs now so I'm very happy and if in some way this helps othets then all the better.
