  • No doubt - it was rude. But, even that kind of thinking can't logically reconcile the choice issue with the prejudice/hate issue.

    • The rainbow sticker is just a simple way of identifying. Think of it this way, you are noticing a lot more rainbow stickers. There's a benefit of that for education purposes. Gays are more common than previously thought. Some very narrow minded people think they are very small minority, when actually they are larger than what is they are thought of. Don't worry, genetics have it so that they will never rule the world. Also think of it this way. We all assume until told otherwise that the gal or guy driving next to you is straight. If you see a chick, that you think is hot, you might take an extra moment to notice her and maybe have a thought or two. Gays/Lesbians can have that ability to with the rainbow flag. When you really think about it, its harmless. Its not making a political statement and its not in your face. The person with the rainbow flag is just being "counted", it says nothing about if he is a neo conservative which many are, or a bleeding heart liberal. Hey a by the way, I have seen the on 18 wheelers and in Virginia I saw it on a cop car.

I mean who would pick to make thier life harder, I sure as hell know my life isn't easier because of this "choice" that "I made". I had to fucking hide who I was in high school, because of narrow minded assholes like you, but rumors spread and my life became a freaking hell. My car got vandalized twice, I got fucking beaen up by 4 guys, and I got taunghted to an extreme. You tell me, WHY WOULD I CHOOSE THAT?

sorry had been ignoring this thread since too much flaming was going down...

Chris i probably worded that wrong and I am sorry if I offended you, basically to me I don't see any genetic proof behind homosexuality, until then it's something that may be very subconsciencous but still a choice whether heavily influenced and not even knowingly, that's just my opinion. This probably wont sit to well with you but keep in mind this is my opinion, this is by no means saying i dislike you and i certainily do not condone what you had to go through. Hit me up with a PM if you want, i really want to avoid this thread, brings out to much negative vibes everywhere...

          • I'm not going to get all negative, I just think your opinion is ignorant. I will admit I do over-react when it comes to this, but I find it really very offensive for someone to says "It's a choice". It leaves me speechless. I also think I kept my cool thus far, I can get very rilled up on this topic enough so to argue about it. The truth is you don't know shit about what it is like to be gay...if you did, I think you would realize it is not something any sane person would chose.

I can repect the fact that you have an opinion, but I can't respect that opinion because it is, to me, an ignorant one.

            Chris

            P.S. your box is full.

Edit: None of this is meant to be really mean. I am nice, I promise, I just don't agree with you and kinda think its ignorant. I know its a harsh word, but I don't mean it to be harsh. I just don't think you have all the information. :dunno: See, no matter what it does I come off sounding mean and like I feel I am better, but its not true.

              • All I can't say to the people that think it is a choice is......"I laugh at you.....hahahahahaha"......don't make yourselves look like dumb asses. Not being gay makes you not understand what it is like. Thats like me saying I totally understand what makes a person become a serial killer. Give me a break...

                  • I see it as the same as when I see a hot girl. Not sure what makes me think she is hot (in the face) but she is.

What don't you understand Chris? What I mean quite simply in that post is don't knock it if you have no idea what it is like to be gay. Clear enough for you now? lol :p

Poor Chris. I think he was up passed his bedtime last night. ;)

I agree with ya, Cory. No one can truly understand someone else's experience unless they have gone through the same thing themselves.

However, at least there are a lot of good people who, although they have different life experiences, they at least try to understand how other people feel, sympathize with their struggles and rejoice in their happiness.

Lighten up, please. By that I don't mean stop talking. We need your point of view, and dialogue opens up even the (few) closed minds of SM members. I'm with you 100% on this issue. But going militantly angry on people doesn't help the case.

You're young and you're expressing yourself, and that's all good. But you stand a better chance of broadening horizons, and ultimately gaining wider acceptance of the position and issues around being gay by addressing other people's opinions with respect.

                          Peace, man.

                          • Okay, okay, I was in a bad mood yesterday. Sorry if I said anything offensive.

As for your post Cory, I think I was simply confused. :dunno: I see what you were saying now.

Imonbaordtoo, if I were upset I think you would really know it. I would be cursing at him, using multiple bad words which I don't want to use right now, and I would probably sink so low as to personally attack him, even thought I don't know him. I am simply expressing my view, and it comes with harsh words. I feel it is ingnorance of what it is to be gay that leads to the "its a choice" opinion. There are things I am obviously ignorant to also, so I'm not trying to be mean or harsh. I am trying my best to be respectful to him, I even put that edit in. I'm not angry, a little upset maybe, but nothing that wasn't cleared up by his post.

                            • Cool, Chris. I don't want to see anybody get hurt. I'm not a mod or anything but everybody on here is great, and we gotta stick together. Even when we disagree (I'm not making excuses for incorrect opinions on the "choice" issue).

Props to you for being so mature.

                              • I was talkin to my friend about this post and asked him what he thought about it, i do not me to offend people by this but this is what he said "Being gay is not a choice, its a sickness and they need to be shot" Well thats what i get for talking to an over Zelous republican about something thats different than the norm.

I do not have a problem with gay people, sometimes with femm gays, but otherwise i fine with it. Heck my old high school had the GSA (Gay Straight Alliance) and tried to have the national day of silence which was ruined by our homophobic principle.

Gay or not its all about a person's choice. What ever floats your boat you know
