every race has a time where they recognise who they are. black history month is every month in my home. i believe in white power etc. we all should appreciate who we are. as for blacks being more racist that is not correct. it's an individual thing. those that say get over it obviously aren't black. this is a good thread. what's racist is when we can't talk about it. there are WET programing. always has been. as we cross culture i think we are more the same than we think. i remember being bussed to white schools and picket signs telling us to go home. if you haven't experienced it you'll never know. we all have different opinions. to a point we're all right in a way. nice thread ixorl.

Oh and didn't some of the Black American's want compensation for slavery from the American government not even a year ago. THey were trying to say the government owed them money for what their ancestors went through and trying to collect everyone elses hard earned fucking tax money. I didn't really appreciate that. Because you don't see the Japanese asking for compensation when we put them in camps back in WWII, or the Jews asking Germans for compensation for the holacaust, or the Chinese for the massacres they faced by their own government in China or the Native Americans(well they got the casinos now) good for them, and plus they ruled this land in the first place so they deserve allllll the compensation if any.

I think most of my facts are right. :D

in fact they do ack for money etc. you just don't hear about it. there are and always be organizations that want to be compensated for past atrocities so your facts are not correct. again some of the statements made signifies who is not a minority. some whites have a problem with what they consider favoritism to blacks as far as schooling, grants, housing etc. and they have every right to be concerned. i think if you are white you should stand up for white power. it isn't racist to me. be proud of who you are.

The black history month recognizes those who helped blacks become equals in this country.

Thats the way I look at it.
every race, and creed has been forced into slavery at some point in history, the Jews had it worse than anyone, but there isnt a month dedicated to them, we were slaves to the Japanese during WW II...

Its just a bunch of bullshit if you ask me, Im not racist by any means, but its over said and done with, and has been for a long fucking time

people want compensation for shit that happened 150 yrs ago...cmon, its making a statement, its not recognizing, its just a ploy to stir more shit up, and when you dig up the past, all you get is dirty

                    let it be

and not being a wiseass, who can explain kwanzaa for me, seems as though that holiday just popped up quite recently

                      Good thread.

It sucks, though because I know what you mean. I am friends with a bunch of white people and black, too. One of my friends, in fear of sounding racist, she said, "colored people" instead of saying black, and my political science teacher, ripped her up on that. (He is black) He said, "You can call us black you know..." and went on and on about that etc... and she wasnt trying to sound racist at all. She was trying to be nice about it because times before, if you said, "black person" someone would get offended too.

What annoys me, too is when you say, "This black person did this" and then people flip out saying, "Why do you have to mention he is black???" (referring to something negative that the person did)
BUT THEN, there are a bunch of things like "Inventions from black people" and thats ok cause its positive. I guess what matters is the tone in which it is spoken about. I just hate that I have to watch out everytime I speak, as to not offend anyone.

Another example, in 6th grade I was chased almost once a week, with a friend of mine, by a bunch of hispanic and black kids on bikes. They never did anything, but scare the sh*t out of us. LOL They would scream, "White girls!!!!!!!!!!!" and chase us. But had it been the other way around, it would hit the news. LOL

I know this whole post I wrote sounds incoherent, but I cant get my thoughts straight right now. LOL Too many thoughts to type.

i was chased by white gangs when we were bussed to their schools but had many white friends. as kids we didn't care all we wanted to do was play. at 46 yrs old i see the same racism thats always been there. we blacks are the biggest opressors of ourselves. did you bros see in bristol r.i. the roger williams university are offering a scholarship for whites only? you have to write an essay on why you are proud to be white. my black friends are angry but as a black man i think it's really cool. our nation could be even more powerful if all nationalities here thought highly of themselves and understood eash others concerns. there is still racism, lynchings going on today so how do you say get over it. i doubt those that say that have ever experienced it first hand. have you ever not been served because you are white? ever see a sign spray painted on your door saying whitey go home? i think not.

Organ, I understand what you say, but as I have never had someone write "whitey go home" I have been called GRINGA and White girl or White bitch by people in my town. I live in a heavily hispanic populated place. I just say mean things right back. I know it isnt right, but I dont say anything to them, but they will say it to me, or anyone who looks white.
                          Its just ridiculous.

I have never NOT been served, but I have been ignored in spanish restaurants because either they thought I didnt speak spanish, or because they just didnt want to. I stood there with my cousin like, "riggght...wtf?" Also, at the same place, they charged me a dollar for a dessert, when its usually a 50 cent dessert. I dont care about that really, but its the principle. Over charge me cause I am white? They can keep their damn dessert. (Actually, I ate it. lOL)
But of course its not the same for everyone, but it does happen, to anyone. :(

So are you saying that if a person is white then they have never experienced racism or descrimination? I could sit here and list all of the bullshit I have gone through because I am a white male. I choose not to. If was a few ignorant people and therefore I chose not to hold a grudge against any one race.
