NYS drug laws HAVE to be changed

My cousin, is a great guy, but like everyone he has his faults. A few months back he and his fiance were in a heated arguement and she went ballastic, to the point where the neighbors called the police. To make a long story short, he had cocaine in the house, not a lot, for personal use, but because there was a scale, which was actually one of those things that are deemed "the scales of justice" if you know what Im talking about, the charged him with possesion with intent to distribute.
And what drives me even more nuts, this was about two weeks before their wedding, before the whole ordeal too place, and he still married her

But because he had a prior felony conviction for assualt, and anything over 3 grams of coke in NY is considered a felony, he'll be doing the next 8-16 yrs of his life behind bars.

tis a sad day for this family :(

Sorry to hear about your cousin. My brother is in a similar situation (in jail partialy by fault of his fiance). It is so frustrating when they stand by the person who, at least in my brothers case, causes the problems - it's hard to look at that girl knowing it's her fault my brother is sitting in jail!

its like my friend, whos girlfriend put him in jail. That sad thing was that he is living in her house. He was there aNd they had an agruement, and she claimed he hit her. The cops took my friend and locked him up in jail for 2 weeks. The bastard gets out and still goes to her house. Come on thats fucked up, someone puts u in jail and u go back to them, i say hell no.
