No, actually it's not freedom of speech. Freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to say whatever you want, up and including calling our President names. Now, you're just being contentious just to be contentious.

ok, i can respect that. it is your right to feel that way. but it is also rado's right to have that avatar is it not?

My position is that the President has my respect the day he assumes office. After that day, he will either go down or up in my opinion depending on what he does. And Bush has done so much damage to America domestically and internationally that I frankly don't have much respect for him. And when Jan 20, 2009 rolls around, the new President, whoever she may be (:)) will have my complete and total respect but starting that day, it is what she does that will dictate if she remains worthy of my respect or not.

I thought it did. What about all the propaganda and political cartoons that have done exactly that for decades?

babyblues, i think you would have to agree though. one thing that makes this country great is the fact that people can do and say what they want to a certain degree. that old saying kinda works here, "I may disagree with what you say, but I shall defend, to the death, your right to say it." Rado does have a right to say it. As dumb as he may sound, I dont think you want to live in a country that prevents people from saying anything.

That's most of your problem. You actually can't argue/debate/conversate with anyone without resorting to this kind of thing. I don't expect you to agree, but I do expect that you can at least explain your position. If you can't, than why do you even have one? It's the attitudes behind why you posted the avatar that are disturbing. So you don't like him, so what? You don't have to flaunt it. I think you post stuff like that just to get a rise out of people. Well, you didn't get a rise out of me, but I did voice my disappointment over your disrespect. It's something I see alot of and it's disturbing.

my feelings exactly. i respect this country and i respect the position of president. i do not however respect the man that is filling that position right now.

I don't like those either, but there's nothing I can do about that.

Well I'm just saying that newspapers and magazines have been publicly publishing these type images for like a century. How can you say someone doesn't have the right to talk negatively about the president or even make fun of him?

Freedom of speech has already been discussed on here before, so I won't repeat all that, but again, I think there's a difference between disagreeing with each other and calling your neighbor an ass and calling your President an ass. To me, there's a pretty defined line between disagreeing and using names that are just plain disrespectful. That's all I'm trying to say.

Was Imus out of line for saying what he did? I don't think he was; but most will...Now with that said...How come it's ok for the music industry to call women bitches and hoe's, yet Imus says one thing, and it's wrong?

This is why I can't stand rap/hip hop shit...Yet they play that garbage all day...
I think we're talking about apples and oranges at this point, rado.

Oh, sure, there's always negative talk about the President. But I've just seen more stuff lately that I think has crossed the line.

It is his right to be disrespectful, yes. And I'd rather nail my fingers to my eyelids than argue with Rado. :hang:
