  • Done with my phone. It has officially kicked the bucket. I have the Samsung Galaxy Note Edge (the original one from 2yrs ago). Its been acting up the past 2 months. Annoying things really, but nothing serious. However, today it took a shit on me. Nothing wants to work, phone cannot update because every time it restarts it freezes before it can load. The battery dropped 50% charge in 2hrs. Fuckin thing keeps freezing, acting slow, and randomly restarting.

I'm convinced phone companies are designing hardware and software to fail in a year to 2 years. My Note 2 did this as well. The only phone that didn't was my HTC Titan, and that thing still functions.

Ordered the Nexus 6P Gold 64GB through Amazon. It was $499 free 2 day shipping and I am able to finance it for 6 months interest free.

Signed up for Google Fi and got the 4GB data plan and selected 1 day shipping for my SIM card which came to $15. I'm honestly hoping everything comes in by Saturday, if not Monday at the latest.

            • I think it's called Miller's Crossing. Some Mafia flick.

              • Power management with 6.0.1 is incredible. I unplugged phone from charger at 8am. Left phone on but didn't use it until now and at 1115am, charge is at 97%. Less than 1% per hour power consumption when phone is on but not being used.

                • Seems about average to me.I dunno, im not noticing the amazing battery life that everyone is talking about. It's good but still doesn't last me a full day.

                  • Operational power is going to be dominated by the hardware - the processor, the radio and the display. You are probably not going to see a huge difference in that when you are actually using the phone. But quiescent power - the power draw when the phone is idle is going to be influenced by how well the OS can shut things down that are not being used. And I think the deep sleep features in 6.0.1 are working pretty effectively.

                    • I don't notice much of a difference from the nexus 5. Then again I had 6.0.1 on that also.

                      • Did you see a big difference when your old phone upgraded from 5.x to 6.0.1? I know that my Moto X on 5.1 loses charge even when it is idle at a significantly faster rate than the Nexus. I haven't had any phone hold charge as well as the 5X does.

Not that I remember. I'd have to go back to 5.1.

I guess I just hear everyone talking about the battery but you'd think I'd see a huge improvement over old nexus 5.

                          • Scrum, let's say all I use is wifi at home, gym etc. for a month and use almost no data at all. Let's say I come out well under 1gig. Say I use 200mb. Will Fi credit me $8 at the end of the month? Thus making my bill $22? :D

That's what it said in this link that I posted earlier.

You can call them to verify, but it definitely seems like if you used zero cellular data, you'll only pay 20 bucks.

                              • In my playing around, doing speed tests is data intensive. I used up almost 100MB doing a couple of speed tests. Pandora streaming was roughly 1MB a minute. So, my 25 minute drive home from work used up about 25MB. The rest of the usage is pretty small, like checking mail, forums, etc.
