Need a new phone

Its $20 for unlimited talk and text and $10/month per GB of data and your data charges don't expire at months end. Data speed is 4g lte in my area anyway.

Is this accurate? I use metropcs and in my area it works very well. I get by on $30/month plan with no issue at all. Its unlimited talk and text and i get unlimited data however just the first GB is at 4g lte , after that I believe I would drop to 2g (but that hasnt been an issue). I could upgrade and for $40/month get unlimited data but 3gb would be at 4g lte, after that down to2g.
Anyone see any benefit to me making the switch? I currently do not but I am by no means tech savvy.....

Yep, you pretty much summed it up. You only pay for the data you use. So, if you signed up for 2GB/mo, i.e. $20 and you only used 1.5 GB, they'll credit your account $5.

Bottom line is if you have cell phone service that works for you, then don't switch. Sounds like you have good coverage with metropcs and the prices are not too different from what you would pay with Fi, so why switch? In my case, I needed to get a new phone and I pay a lot more with AT&T, so it makes sense for me to at least consider this.

Thanks Scrum, always like to keep my options open and wanted to be sure I understood before I looked further. Sounds like the perfect gig for you and if I wasn't where I am as far as satisfaction at the moment with metro OR if they had a phone I really wanted I would def go with them as well.

Stan let me just say, there is nothing better on the Android platform then a Nexus phone. There is a reason all the techies have Nexus or MotoX pure. It's not loaded with bullshit. It's pure Google/pure Android. People like Rado have Samsung... Is there really anything more I need to say? :D

I have a Moto X 2nd Gen as my personal phone and a Galaxy S4 as my work phone and it isn't even close. The S4 menu, icons, etc. look like they were designed by summer interns compared to the Moto. And it is much more laggy as well. The S4 has a killer camera though, got to admit. Everything else looks and feels amateurish.

Too expensive for me. They want over $400 for it. And it is also really big. The 5X is about the same size as my Moto X 2nd Gen, which is just perfect as a phone IMO. The bigger size may be great for watching video, etc. but it is just too unwieldy for me in terms of using as a phone or sticking it in my pant pocket.

Taxes and fees were similar to other companies if I remember. Just google Fi service and search. Lots of people have posted their monthly invoices. I think most of the fees are mandated by the govt for covering 911 costs, etc., so they are going to be pretty similar from one company to the other.

It really is expensive, however I'm not worried about how big it is. I have the Galaxy Note Edge and it's a good size phone.

Thanks Scrum, I'm sure it's an extra $8-$10 extra for that. I'll Google it and view my current AT&T bill to compare.

I think Google Fi for my father is perfect. He's 67, retired, stays at home all day, and walks 3 miles a day. He has WiFi and just needs a phone for basic needs.

It is LTE, but the LTE coverage of Sprint/TMo is less than AT&T and Verizon, so there is a greater chance that as you go to the outskirts of town of on some smaller highways, the phone may fall back to 3G.

If you currently get LTE everywhere with Sprint, then you'll be fine.
