Need a new phone

on top of google giving me the bigger hard drive phone they have also credited my fi account for $10 because i was obviously without service.

so because my phone broke i got a better phone free and made 10 bucks. thats customer service!

My 6P finally died. Constant rebooting issues until the battery would die. It kelt doing this randomly and rebooting it in safe mode didn't work.

Went a different route and got an iPhone. Was tired of Android devices working for a year or year and a half before they would die.

Apparently the issue was between Huawei and Google not 'getting along'

There is some class action lawsuit going on. I was disappointed that my 6P just took a shit about a year after owning it

My 5x had a crazy high failure rate. When I contacted fi they almost expected it. They were like "your new one is on the way" without any argument. I think they fixed the issue with the newer builds of the 5x but we will see.

OK, my 5X finally died. Shut off yesterday and now, it gets stuck in reboot mode. I tried everything and can't recover it. It's a hardware issue - my understanding is that it is a physical electrical connection that finally gives out due to thermal cycling.

So, my phone is a brick now. I'm back on my Moto X 2nd Gen with the cracked screen.

Any thoughts on what I should get? New phones are super expensive and I am super cheap - can't bear the thought of paying more than $200 for a phone.

I absolutely need NFC and I need the phone to be unlocked. Everything else is negotiable.

Thinking of the following:

ZTE Axon 7 Mini
Nokia 6

The Moto G Plus would have been good, but it doesn't have NFC. The Moto X 4th Gen is too expensive.

Any others? I could throw an iPhone 6S in the mix, but I'm not sure I'm ready to go iOS.

I'm on the OnePlus 3t. Going to stick with them for a while. Just about as stock Android as one can get, quick on updates, great hardware, no bloatware at all and top specs for an affordable price. Unlocked of course. The new 5t blows away the iPhone x in real world speed tests. It's also the longest lasting battery between the top phones and is the fastest charging phone on the planet.

NFC works great too btw. I've also come to love the 3 position alert slider on the side. Quick to go to silent and vibrate.

By the way scrum, not sure if you forgot or not but Google replaced my 5x with the new model that doesn't have an issue. (Manufactured after March 2017). They basically have an unspoken replace policy for old 5x that had the defect. I called them up, told them in broke and that I knew it was an issue. They sent me a brand new one in 2 days no questions. Didn't even make me send the old one back.

Chuck, yeah, forgot about the OnePlus. The 5T is too expensive for me. I haven't looked at the 3T.

B, I'm not going to pay a grand for a phone. I'm not even going to pay $500. It's just not worth it to me.

I called Nexus and they said that my phone was out of warranty and I should contact LG for repairs. I read online that after a certain date, they don't give you the phones anymore. Maybe I will call back and see if I can get a different rep on the phone and chew them out for what is obviously a normal statistical failure, but rather, a defect that is outside of normal. Not sure it if will fly, but it sucks that LGs shitty manufacturing is now my problem.

Edit: Just looked at the OnePlus 3T. Too expensive for me. Cheapest I have seen is over $400. I've set myself a limit of $200, maybe $250 max.

Buy gently used from swappa.com. I’ve never had a problem. iPhone6s should be attainable for $250. Apple will replace the battery for $29 during 2018. You should get at least 3-4 years out of it.

And I’m typing this on an iPhone 6s Plus with a note 8 on the table in front of me. I’m debating selling the note and going to go get the X. iMessage is just that amazing for sharing video. (And I know that I have a problem).

I know they don't sell the 3t anymore. They might still sell the 5. Price jumped quite a bit in the last year. I only paid $380 new for my 3t.

I used the 6 s plus daily for 2 years. I noticed battery degredation, but nothing horrible. I got a great 2 years out of it.
