Speaking of which, I've seen the "crossfit games" on espn a few times now.

I think sometimes people get lost in the details.
Scrum, say what you want bro but crossfit is extremely popular and some of the athletes associated with it are in very good shape. I'm sure there are "good ways" of doing crossfit and shitty ways to do it. I would imagine that just like anything else, it depends on where you go and who the instructor is. Imagine judging all of MMA simply by 1 shitty MMA school that has injury prone techniques etc..

Not saying Crossfit is useless or won't make you fitter or whatever. All I am saying is that a lot of their programming is ill conceived and risky, like some of their WOD sequences that combine highly technical Olympic lifts and some highly fatigue inducing components.
Be careful, pick and choose what you do, and don't drink the Crossfit koolaid and do any speed lifting.
That being said, I would rank anything by Ross Enamait far above any Crossfit program.

I think a lot of people are more interested in the lifestyle of cross fit over the fitness aspect.
You have been training for years, so I think that you will be able to spot and avoid any dumb, risky, stupid shit.
All the bros working out shirtless is....dumb, but that is just an opinion.
Change is never a bad thing. Good luck.
Why no BJJ for 2 years? I'm counting down the days until I can get back on the mat.
My training is about to be more cardiovascular and endurance focused for the next couple of months. I signed up for an event just to change things up.

I just want change and saying two years was something that rolled off my tongue. I want to take a break but not a break from necessarily training or lifting, but being able to do something different. Crossfit has a lot of movements that require flexibility and tons of stamina, lifting in most cases doesn't. Does that make sense?

I visited the place and it was great, just didn't post about it because I'm going to another one next week and wanted to post about both together.Originally posted by Scrumhalf View PostGive it a try. You can always ditch it if you don't like it. It's probably only the newbies and the zealots who do the crazy shit and get hurt, so you should be ok.
Seems some "boxes" as so they're called, have mandatory intro classes. They basically make you take like a 3/6 week course teaching you the basics for one set price. Once you "graduate", you can THEN start to join others for the WOD in the BOX....I jst wanna go, train, do whatever and have fun but also where it's a killer workout/training...so we'll see, soon I hope.

IMO crossfit is basically martial arts training off the mat and has been around for years before it was called crossfit. crossfit ppl took it changed the concept and made it into a sport. i think thats where it got reckeless in terms of form and technique reps and sets. ppl got hurt. i think you will seed good gains and results. find the right group. you can do it all on your own too. im surpised you havent done some sort of hybrid weight endurance training at the gym. Lifting heavy all the time is not good for flexibiliy etc.

We did this same shit before a cross fit was around. We just called it circuit training then Spartan training then cross fit lol
I have not seen cross fit in s few years in sure they evolved to some cool stuff but I'll never be a fan of speed type lifting in a race. Sure go fast as intense as you can long as your safe and do get caught on the ego of it
