I agree that every race has their lower class, but I also think that depending on the region certain races are looked down upon more by society.
Houston not being the melting pot that New York is, we still have a good deal of ethic mixing and the caucasions become the minority to the hispanics a year or so ago, in the Houston area.
I agree with what has been posted already and I think it just depends on what handful of people you look at as to what applies. I do think that some blacks are held down by society because many look at them as the lower class in our society. Then again, they also have a helping hand waiting for them in many of the government education prgrams that they don't take advantage of. If you grow up in a bad place, you have to adapt to make it along, but that doesn't mean you still can't learn something. I think the parents have a good deal of blame for not pushing their kids to do better, than again, I have black friends who treat their parents with more respect than anyone I've ever met. Hard to say, but I think it has to do with the way society is, the lack of some to have the will to be better, and the thought of some that they are owed something because we have been giving government handouts to them for years.
This thing about paying the blacks for the slavery of their great great grandparents is bullsh!t to me. America was no where close to being the beginning of slavery, and it is also shown that many of the slaves were POW's. I feel that every race has made it's sacrifices to be where they are. Some 90% or so of all colonist died from disease coming and trying to live in america. I think people in general should stop complaining about not getting anything for themselves and start making it happen themselves by working for it.
