Well I fall into this category too, I was born poor and raised poor. My family has not helped me achieve anything that I have done thus far in my life and I am paying my own way through undergrad and grad school. I am of native american descent and I don't ask for nor expect any sympathy or preferencial treatment. So I do not sympathize for the black community.

While some of that is true, what they choose to do w/ their lives is up to them. I know plenty of ppl that grew up in ghettos w/ poor parents and poor living conditions who went on to college through combinations of grants and loans. They've now made something of themselves. It's an inner drive that makes a person want to do better. Those who don't have it, I have no sympathy for.

My parents are not poor, but they are not well off enough to put me through school without me doing a great deal on my own. I also have 4 other siblings that put a strain on our income. I work hard for what I get and the part that my parents are able to help me with I appreciate, but don't expect. I'm with blm on this... if u work hard, u get what u deserve.

What about the other whites and minorities that are born into these same situations? How come they strive to become better? The support is there, but if you're not taking the steps towards them, then it does you no good. Seems the easy way out these days is to become a rap star or an athelete. Fuck everything else. As long as one of you makes it, then you can bring your boys up too.

hmmmm i like this site too much to say something and get banned.... All i know is that im racist. i was brought up that way and I think everyone is racist in there own way. Thats just how iam im italian and every italian is racist if ur brought up that way with a sunday sauce at 3 with chicken meatloaf spaghetti etc. All i can say is that i do tend to see more black people being in trouble with the law. Idk why that's just how it is. Maybe its because of there upbringing and how they were raised. If u are lower class or poverty stricten w/e race you are your most likely not going to be raised right. Learning that fending ur self is a good strategy etc, idk so many ways to talk about this but all i know is i have had a few black families move into our neighborhood. one family the dad is a drug dealer we know this for a fact and he always has cops at the house. The others think they are in a gang or something and then another house the guy got kicked out for beating his wife... w/e

My father is half italian, but neither he nor I are racist. You can't classify every black person in the same category. You can't do that with any race. Your race doesn't make you who you are. There are some great black people out there who have to suffer now because a lot of people have given their race a bad rapoir. Hate the ghetto people, not the whole race man.

I think there is a thick line between African Americans and black people.

African Americans are classy, compassionate, ambitious, professional,....they act more like white people

Blacks are obnoxious, loud, rude, inconsiderate, have no drive, have no problem living off food stamps, and then turn around and buy a diamond earring and $500 worth of FUBU. They continue to use welfare, live in Sec. 8 housing, and pay $3000 for a new set of rims rather than feed and clothe their children. Normally I wouldn't care what they do...but when it's MY TAX DOLLARS that aid this type of behavior, it's infuriating.

I don't care if you are born into poverty or not. African Americans make the choice every day as to which category they are going to be in. Who cares if they are born into inner city schools, or the ghetto. tSince when does that impair your ability to go to the financial aid office for college tuition? Does that impair their ability to obtain an education higher than the 8th grade?

Just because there may be lack of support at home is no excuse. That does not mean they can't tell the difference between right and wrong. I know plenty of white people who had little support from their parents. Yet they have no trouble putting themselves through school, and becoming successful. All I see them trying to do is get themselves out of the ghetto,or out of the situation.

I am so sick and tired of African Americans crying wolf about how everything in their lives is racist, and how it's all "Just trying to keep the black man down". They keep themselves down. True they are born into an environment, and it may be all they know. but that holds little stock with me for a very short time. Are you telling me they never see people succeed??? RIGHT.

They CHOOSE to make excuses for themselves, and play the race card whenever they feel it's necessary. I have ill feeling toward blacks, and I guarantee you the African Americans are treated MUCH better than the others. Funny I never hear any of those types playing the race game.

I agree with the bulk of your statement except the whole black and African American thing. They are not African Americans...they are black Americans whether they are good or bad in society's eyes. They are born in America and they are black. Therefore, they are black Americans!

You're right. I was trying to classify them into 2 groups to make my point without offending....

I don't think many would consider that very PC. I don't know any black people that don't consider themselves african americans. That's like saying asian americans are actually yellow americans.

"Red and Yellow, Black and White, they are precious in his site." (i think that's how it goes) ....isn't that part of a children's song???

                                Bad joke.

But really- it is in a children's song. "Jesus Loves the Little Children"

Right there is a perfect example of profiling and racism....so there is a small argument there.....but that's it.
