An extremist position is one that is opposite of >85% of the American population. There's no other way to put it. The NRA position on background checks, mental health restrictions and CDC research is, literally, extremist. It's not even close.

First 85% is off bullshit polls that were just as wrong as the election. Second. If those are extremist in your mind then what word in the English language would you use to label my examples of mandatory gun ownership and ability to own explosives?

Just because you don't agree with something doesn't make it an extremist view. You can't lump additional background checks and mandatory gun ownership in the same bucket as "extremist".

It's not me. Virtually the entire country doesn't agree with the NRA on this.

And whoops on the typo. I meant to say mentally ill gun ownership. Not sure how autocorrect turned that into mandatory gun ownership.

I would recommend all of you to read the book, 'Sapiens' it goes into depth about how our ancestors lived. It all started in Eastern Africa and we developed fear because we were not on top of the food chain. We were regularly hunted by lions and other apex predators. Those of us who survived developed a sense of fear and..... Anxiety.

Phenibut is an anti-anxiety drug. People who walk around with daily Anxiety are drawn to this drug. They can't sleep at night without it as their mind is racing, they can't relax or make it through the day without it. Mind is racing with fear. Chadd you've openly admitted on this very board that you take this drug daily and that you absolutely cannot sleep without it.

            Scoreboard mother fucker.

Here is the Post where you admit this:

Your post literally made me lol.

I'll have to get that book and read it. It sounds great! lol

Anxiety? Funny you even mention that. My wife questioned me yesterday because I don't stress over large problems that life can throw at you. I told her it's not that I don't care about it but I don't stress over situations that I cannot control. SO to say I have anxiety is about as funny as the picture you posted of yourself. lol

Scoreboard? lol I'm coaching my daughters soccer team right now. You reminded me of this little pudgy girl on the team. Man she tries real hard but she can't play for shit. lol Keep trying my friend. Don't give up!

Percentage wise a 16 year old is more likely to have more complete information on something like global warming because they actually look at and understand the data and how it works, while a 50 year old just hears Rush Limbaugh on AM radio telling them that Al Gore created the hoax of Global Warming and just go with that instead of actually trying to understand it.

In this regard, the 16 years olds will indeed save us.

I said mandatory gun ownership. I've heard people suggest this. That is an extreme view. Lack of wanting additional background checks is not an extreme view, it is just an oppositional view.
For one, I don't believe a poll that says 85% want increased background checks. Most importantly, I'd say a very large chunk of that is rather that people don't care either way. So you have people that want more, people that don't care either way and people that don't want more. An EXTREME view would be NO background checks.

There are many, many polls. No reason to not believe them and I say this objectively. The polls range from almost 90% to over 2/3rds in even the most conservative poll sites like Rasmussen. I don't think this is a biased poll thing - Americans overwhelmingly want universal background checks. And the numbers are such that this cuts across the political spectrum.

And every single one of those polls said Clinton would win by a landslide...

If you look back historically, presidential polling has been accurate, really accurate. The polls on fivethirtyeight, which is one that usually nails it had Clinton winning the popular vote by about 3.2 million votes. She won by 2.9 million votes, so pretty close.

What they missed is those 3-4 swing states which Trump won by a total of 60,000 votes across each state. If those 3-4 swing the other way it is a landslide Victory for Clinton. I think many people polled in those states were either undecided or ashamed to admit they were voting for a womanizing con-man.

I agree many polls are garbage, but if you look back historically going back decades I'd never discount presedential polls because even though they missed the electoral college in 2016 doesn't mean they aren't valid and accurate in general.

Even putting the polling argument aside, Universal background checks wouldn't have stopped Parkland. Nothing solved.

It won't solve everything of course, but if it prevents 50% of potential situations or even 25%, it is worth it.

It is one of several things we can do, if we only had the political courage to do so.

I personally think agencies communicating with each other and actually doing their job would be more effective. In the case of this kid the FBI couldn't be bothered to call the Miami field office.

In the case of the Texas shooter the Air Force couldn't be bothered to add a guy that cracked a baby skull to the list.

What we need scrum is enforcement of laws already on the books!

I'm with you here, I'm not 100% against any kind of change whatsoever but we need these fuckers to do their damn job.
