news flash. there are literally hundreds of gun laws on the books. a person can not go and buy an automatic weapon from walmart like you seem to think.

we have a national background check system in place that prevents felons and other criminals with a record from buying a firearm. do you honestly believe there is no national background check in place right now?

Too many loopholes. It is not comprehensive or universal and the laws are a patchwork from state to state. How about mental health restrictions? And can we fund the CDC, please? Talk to your org about that.

I see plenty of evidence that reasonable people from all races, socioeconomic status, etc recognize that we have a police violence and accountability problem that needs to be addressed through more training, more accountability, etc.

What you see as an anti-cop swing is simply a demand for better accountability and addressing the shoddy treatment of a large relatively disenfranchised segment of our population by the police. It's like the civil rights movement of the 60s, when just asking for equal rights was seen as an affront by a segment of the population that was so used to the lopsided status quo.

I was brought up around guns. Almost all of my family members own and carry a firearm. Even my sister carries. It's second nature to me. Never once have I thought about carrying out of fear. Actually the complete opposite. I'm sure for a liberal like yourself that was not brought up around firearms, it is hard to understand. I would recommend all of you to read the book, 'Sapiens' it goes into depth about how our ancestors lived. It all started in Eastern Africa and we developed fear because we were not on top of the food chain. We were regularly hunted by lions and other apex predators. Those of us who survived developed a sense of fear and..... Anxiety.

Nobody said literally. It's just an expression. The sooner the voting and decsion making shifts away from old people to those who really have a stake in how the country evolves over the next 50 to 75 years, the better. That's what I meant.
