You understand to level up after 20 is to get better body gear and upgrade that gear. To get that gear it's going to be from drops or rewards from strikes and crucible. Or join the one of the factions by purchasing that faction piece to earn that faction reputation. That unlocks the legendary gear to buy from that faction.Comment
