      • So I've decided I'm going to get a 3 or 4TB 3.5" hard drive in an enclosure with a sata extension cable so I don't have to delete shit again for a long time. I will have a goiter sitting on the ps4 but fuck it. Worth it to not have to worry about it again for a few years. The 500gb from the ps4 will go into my old ps3 cause that 60gb bitch is full too.

That's the one game I won't get because I don't want my kids playing it.

Real shame because it is THE best game I've ever played. Not just about shooting and stealing etc.. The story line is good. The acting (trevor) is amazing. The amount of effort they put into the small details and missions is exceptional. Lots of people put a lot of hard work and effort into this game.

I would even say a kid SHOULD play this game. The story has some good life lessons in it. You can't put them in a bubble forever bro. They will learn the world one way or another.

It's not about putting them in a bubble. Prostitutes, rape, beating innocent people... it's about not making it a game or joke until they are old enough to understand what it is and how serious the issue is in real life.

                  This.

                  Thankfully he isn't procreating.

                  • A child is smarter than given credit for. Reading, gaming, movies, etc.. does not increase the likelihood of violence in real life.

Home life and parents that teach values and lessons is the big factor.

                    • Without a doubt it all comes down to parenting. And an intelligent and responsible parent would not use GTA5 as a tool to teach their child "good life lessons".

                      • And I don't entirely agree that being subjected to violent content has no effect on their psyche thus increasing the likelihood of committing violence in real life.

To me that's like saying watching porn does not increase the likelihood that you want to go fuck a hot girl with big tits.

Maybe not but a smart parent would realize that kids will be kids and they WILL be exposed to such things be it at a friends house etc..

The stricter you are the harder it will backfire.

And so your solution to that is to prevent yourself from watching porn?

Much like my "kids will be kids" argument.. Guys will be guys regardless of porn.

It's the tools you give them as a parent that will determine how they will deal with situations. Trying to hide violence and sexual content will do nothing at all in terms of preparation for life.

                            • No one said anything about hiding sex and violence. There is a proper way to educate youth. And there are appropriate times to "subject" them to it.

Obviously not everything goes as planned; that's life. But you use your past experience and current wisdom to try and do what's best.

                              • This is a useless debate. Bouncer, when you have kids you will understand the difference in letting kids get graphically exposed without guidance vs. exposure from age level peers. Being a smart and good parent is a balance of exposing them to life with as much awareness as possible to what that is and not forcing exposure making them grow up faster than necessary.
